When do they post the scholarship application for the 2011-2012 year?

Probably around April. I think you can go to the site and sign up to receive an email when the new apps are posted.

I call HRSA yesterday (10/25) and was told "the packets are being mailed out as we speak" and that the money would be there sometime before Nov. 7th......

I really hope that is the truth and they don't run into more "unexpected delays". Even if we get the packets next week, it will take them until next semester to get the money to us for our tuition. Sorry I hate to complain bc it is a privilege to even be getting the tuition money back but dang do they have to take sooooooooooooo llllllllllllllooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnngggggg??? ??

The entire scholarship amount including the educational expenses covered is taxable because it involves a service commitment. I believe, therefore, that we can still claim the lifetime learning or other applicable educational tax credit or deduction.
Does anyone know for sure if that's the case?

I'm in TN and received my welcome package today Does anyone know if they take all the taxes out in one lump sum from our first payment or if they are taken out monthly?

I think it is ridiculous that HRSA will not pay for my summer session I required nursing courses because it ended before July 1, 2010. I am graduating December 2010 and I have to commit to 2 years of service for one semester of payment. The people who are making HRSA pay for their full year of tuition are very lucky, but I am still blessed to have the HRSA scholarship even though they get more out of me than I get out of them.

Does anyone know if the stipend counts against the cost of attendance? For the year the stipend equates to about $15,000. Add in the $1900 for the one time fee and tuition and my cost of attendance is maxed out. I would think the stipend counts as income and toward the $$ on my FAFSA next year rather than as award monies that the school counts.

Thats a good question. I was wondering the same thing. I am hoping that although the money is taxed it will not change the contribution amount in FAFSA. It shouldn't, should it???????? I just tried calling HRSA Red Team, and no one is in today to answer this question. I will try again next week.
