Summer school blues

  1. I started anatomy Monday and it's already kicking my butt! I've known going into summer school that it was going to be jam packed, and very condensed but wow! So, I'm here venting. It seems as though I can't learn anything new, and there's too much information in such a short about of time (8 weeks). Anywho, I need to get back to studying. I think it's possible, and wont be as hard as Nursing school...but it was worth the vent.

Take care! Good luck to anyone else in summer school.

Same here, except my summer school anatomy course is 6 weeks. I prepped by reading before the class actually started, and that's helped immensely. Our first "real" test is tomorrow, and I'm starting to panic a little. I do think by next week I'll have a system for studying down and it will be a little easier. I hope.

What's your system now? And how's it working?

I think people learn/study in different ways. I'm more of a read, reread, and read again person. Along with staring at a picture or chart for long periods of times, and repeating the contents over and over. Then cover the answers and filling it in. Seems to be working so far, I just got a 100% on our first quiz.

Good luck to you on your first exam!

Good luck! Tomorrow is my last day of API in summer session in 4 1/2 weeks. I am trying to study tonight for my last test. Monday I start APII in 4 1/2 weeks. It is very tough, but I feel like if I can survive this, I can make it in my nursing program!!!
Back to studying the endocrine system! I am goofing off here!! :typing

Not taking A&P this summer but I am in summer classes. I found a good study book I am reading to get ready for the class. It is called "Textbook of Basic Nursing" but it covers A&P a lot. Each chapter give a terminology review, acronym review, and A&P review. Then it give a true/false section which you have to correct the false statements, matching, and multiple choice. I don't think it is as detailed as the class will be but it helps. I will see how I do in class when I take it.

I started micro, but I think anatomy is much easier because it's all memorization and very little thinking required until you get to like nervous system and that's as hard (conceptually) as it will get. MICRO is killing me...I come home tired and uninspired but the begging is like a review of biology so its not too bad, but the labs are freaking complicated and long.

I'm taking Anatomy for the first summer term and Physiology for the second. Both terms are only 4 1/2 weeks long, but still have the exact material that the long semester contains. Anatomy kicked my butt, but I studied non-stop. Was constantly in open lab, always asked questions, and studied until I went to bed every evening. Anatomy ends on Thursday and I've made an A in the class (and it's my first time taking it!). So just be prepared to make Anatomy your life. It may seem overwhelming, but you can totally do it if you really want to!

Well at least ya'll are taking interesting science classes. My summer is consisting of boring co-requesite classes like Intro to Psych, Spanish 1, and Speech. They are so easy and boring. I saved my last pre-req, Physiology, for the regular 16 week semester so I could get the prof I wanted. Thank goodness for ratemyprofessors.com!!

I admire you all for working so hard! I dropped my summer A&PII class in May after the third day I just couldn't do it. Its hard to stay motivated during summer time and classes are so short. You all just keep working hard and it will be over before you know it!
