Sac State Spring 2012 applicants

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi! I was hoping to find other people on here who are trying to get into CSUS's program for the Spring 2012 semester and maybe start a little community on here and go through the process and waiting together. If you are, what are your stats, and what other colleges are you applying to?

Hi nicole8584! I live in Sacramento and applied to the local community colleges (Sac city, ARC, and Delta), but my first choice is definitely Sac State. My nursing gpa is 3.88 and 90.7 teas; I also qualified for 9 of the optional points. I will be deducted 5 points for repeating a course, so if I calculated correct I have 78 points. What are your stats?

Hi dreamtobern :) Your number of points seem strong, and I would think you have a good chance of getting in! My nursing gpa is 4.0, and my TEAS score was 91.3%. I applied for one of the supplemental criteria, but I am skeptical about getting it, so I think I have 83 points without it. I wish they would post the applicant stats from this fall, but I've heard it can be a little easier getting in in the spring semester. Can I ask how you like living in Sac? I would be transferring from the Bay Area, and I've never lived anywhere else.

I hope we both get in! It would be great to sort of know someone going into the program right off the bat.

Nicole8584, I attended the information session at Sac State on Sept 16th and the speaker said the point cut off for fall 2011 was 58 points. Based on that information we have a really good chance to get in, but I do not want to get too excited until its official. I do like Sac, but then again I have nothing else to compare it to, as I have always lived here. Yes, it would be nice to know someone from the start. Good look to us!

So the lowest number of points someone had and still got in was 58? That does look good for us. I know what you mean about getting your hopes up; though, it's a little hard not to when we have that good of a chance. That's great you were able to go to the session- I never could make it because of classes and work.

Thanks for the info- I've driven around the area a few times, and it seems like it's not too far removed from the area I live now, so I think I would like it, too.

I'm assuming you hear back about the college itself after October 3rd too?

Hi I also applied to sac state for spring 2012! My nursing GPA is a 4.0 and I got an 88% on the teas. I applied for six optional points. So that brings my total to 83 points. I am originally from the bay area but moved to Sacramento:o because I currently attend sac state! I hope we all get in!

Mkbarry09 - it sounds like I will be seeing you there if all goes well! :D We have the same number of points. I'm from the bay area too; I live in Dublin and will be transferring from Diablo Valley College. What city are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Oh thats really cool! I'm from Pittsburg. I dont know if you know where that is but I think you will because you are from near by. Its right by Concord. Are you excited to start? I've been waiting to apply for so long so I'm glad I'm finally at this stage! Have you been to sac states new nursing building? It's awesome!

Yeah I know where that is! I am excited and nervous- I hope that I will really like it even though it is hard and that it will confirm for certain nursing is where I am supposed to be. I'm pretty sure this is the thing for me, but I'm a worrier, so doubts creep in sometimes.

I've stepped into the front of the new building, but they had just closed :/ I've seen pictures and read about the new simulators and stuff, and it sounds so much better and like it has a lighter look to it than the old building :)

How have you liked going to Sac state and living there so far? And have you been wanting to go into nursing since you first started college?

I like sacramento but it is really hot here lol! So far the school has been great! I have loved all of my teachers except for one which is pretty good considering I have been here for 2 years! I have also met some of the nursing teachers and they all seem great! I came to sac state right after high school and began my prereqs. I'm am finally done (it took me 2 and 1/2 years) and now I am ready to apply. What about you? How long have you been working on prereqs? Do you have any other degrees?

I'm glad there are a lot of good teachers! That makes all the difference when you take hard classes. I know it feels like a long time coming haha. I graduated in '08, did GE and started on prereqs last fall. I'm just taking psych and O chem, which are my last ones finally :) I don't have another degree - I'm just turning 21. So, I haven't lived on my own yet, so that's a big part of why I'm nervous, because I'll have to go in knowing no one and find people to form friendships with. That's part of why I'm on here is to maybe talk to people who get in as well and go through the process together.

Do you know other people who are trying to get into the program too?
