Online Microbiology course.....?

Has anyone taken Microbiology on-line and if so, through which school? And how was the course, easy, hard, ?????

I took microbiology online the first half of the summer through PBCC. Let me tell you what a joke this class was. I have never taken such an easy class in my life. This teacher was soooooooo easy. Anyone who didnt get an A was a moron. The test were all online and he would tell us the questions that would be on the test. Then he would either highlight or underline the section of the powerpoint notes that pertained to that question. If anyone is going to take microbiology through Palm beach community college let me know. I will tell you who to take. you will spend no time at all on this class lol

Hi Lisa,

I have just registered to take the online micro class through red rocks. I have already taken the class, and am taking it again to improve my grade. I would like to purchase your kit if it is still available. Please call me (303)918-3204 or email me aimlou@comcast. net. I would also like to know from you how the format of the class worked for you. I have just finished an online chem class and it worked well for me. I will be taking the accelerated version also. Thanks for your help.

I took my Micro online through St Petersburg Community College. It was a very fast and busy class. The instructor was a bit disorganized but I ended up with an A. It worked out well.

dcaradon,

i am interested in taking micro through pbcc, please advise me on who to take, also is the lab online as well?

Hello everyone,

I took my pre-nursing biology courses at New Mexico Junior College online. They have one instructor teaching majority of the online biology courses, and they are really easy and inexpensive. The professor is really helpful, and the classes include a lab. The courses cost $304 for the semester, and if your not attending their college full time they dont ask for transcripts. You have to call to tell them your only taking the biology classes. The books I purchased online for about $75(lecture book and lab book total). Made a B, and I missed a couple of tests. By the way I live in Houston, and it was still cheap considering I was an out of state student. Check them out they have alot of the pre-req subjects online with a 2nd start date; which is how I took my class.

Good luck everyone. :)

Hi ReMon,

Great info! What about lab? Did you need additional supplies?

Any tips or guidance? Transfer credits appear to be ok to the schools you selected? Where are you looking to take your ADN courses?

Also I noticed they do not have Chem, did you take it somewhere else? Where?

Thanks in advance for your help!

removed form allnurses.com question answered. Thank you.

Hi Dwaynea, Sorry it took me so long to reply to your questions. I'll take them in order.

Yes the class does include a lab, and that included in the $304 price. The lab is offer online, and you will have to purchase a lab manual. You will have tests and quizes in lab, and it will include pictures of slide from the manual. The credits will transfer to any school in my area. All the schools that I have applied to, and have been in contact with haven't had a problem with the school or credit. I'm apllying to COM, ACC, And Lonestar. I'm not gonna try San Jac because I know I would have to retake my API because I received a C. My pre-req GPA wouldnt be high enough to compete. I'm also applying to LVN programs at the same schools including San Jac, because it would be easy to transition to RN. I could also take the LVN-BSN route online if need be. I haven't taken Chem because not all schools require it. Before I take it I'm gonna check rate my prefessor for the best instructor. I may try COM because I heard the professors dont stress you too much (idk, i clould be wrong).

Well anywho, this is getting lengthy. keep me posted on your outcome. I would recommend NMJC to anyone. You can also contact the professor before you register, and they also post the syllabus for different classes; you dont have to be registered to view it.

Again Good luck.

Hi ReMon,

I'm planning on registering for the NMJC Micro course this coming semester (Sp 2011). Are the test/quiz for this course proctored?

Hi.

Did you take the microbiology online course at Pb Gardens? Which textbook did you use? How did you fulfill the lab portion online? Did you have to buy a microscope? How many tests and lab quizes were there? Did you have to answer questions from a lab manual? Did the professor give you the lab quiz questions also? What was the name of your professor?

I thank you in advance for being so kind as to take the time out to answer my questions.
