Oh WHY do people have to be so nasty?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Okay, maybe I'm having an extra sensitive sort of day....But, I get a call from the doc's office where I'm getting my immunizations for school (not my normal doc who doesn't do immunizations...thanks, Ms. Receptionist for telling me that BEFORE I wasted my time and $ on the office visit) and evidently my titer came back on my mmr that I'm not immune. Jokingly, I said "Oh boy, more shots!" wrongfully assuming the person on the other end had a sense of humor (I had my Hep. B, Tetorifice, PPD test and blood draw last week). She says, "Well, that's what you need to go to nursing school. Maybe you should pick a different profession if you don't like it." I didn't even know what to say...wow...what a grinch. Excuuuuuse me...I wasn't aware that the only people who needed shots were nurses....I wasn't aware that as a nurse, I would be giving MYSELF all those shots! Silly me....If I had been quick on my feet, I would have told her "So should you." Ok....vent over.

Ah well, guess not everyone has a sense of humor. However, since you were the "customer" in this situation she was out of line. Too bad you didn't say "and you need another profression as well, since you've obviously flunked phone manners". LOL

Juist blow it off and have a good rest of the day. :)

OK, don't get me wrong, as I've been a receptionist before, but........

I would want to say: "And that attitude is why you are a receptionist, not a professional."

Some people really shouldn't be customer service if they are not nice. You have to be a people person to handle that job.

oh i have had a lot of bad experiences with dr office' receptionist. one time i kept trying to get an appointment with my obgyn and the receptionist would tell me that he could see me something like "today and 2pm or tomorrow at 9am". well i can't rearrange my schedule that fast. i wanted something like next week or even next month. she would tell me if i could not make those appointments i would have to call back next month, all pissy like. i was like what call back next month! why can i just make an appointment for next month today that is what i have always done! after two months of calling them for an appointment i sent a letter to the dr complaining. his office manager called me to apologize. she said that the receptionist should have explained that the dr was having medical issue and was unable to tell if he would be able to work from day to day.

another time i was having some medical issue of my own and had just been released from the hospital. before i was hospitalized i had an appointment with my dr that was about two weeks in the future. when i was released the nurse that discharged me did not tell me if i needed to go see my dr, so the next day i called the dr office and asked to speak with the nurse. the receptionist told me "no" that she could help me. i then told her what was going on and asked if i should come in to see the dr or wait until my next appointment that i had made before i was hospitalized. she said oh just wait and come in. at my next appointment my dr wanted to know why i had waited so long to come in. when i told him what happen he was really pissed at the nurse at the hospital for not giving me his instructions to see him in a few days and the receptionist for giving medical advice.
