Hi there,

I haven't taken the NET yet, but there is a NET Hobit Study Guide that is written by the same people who write the tests. In the study guide, there is no science at all. Mostly it is reading comprehension, basic math (fractions, percentages, and decimals). Only those things on the test is what calculates your score. There is also a section that times how fast you read, how you deal with stress, and your test taking abilities. There is some algebra, but it isn't anything advanced.

Your schools bookstore should have a copy of this for you to buy. Mine did, but I ended up getting it from the official website. If your test is on Monday, you wouldn't have enough time to get the book from the web. One thing you have to remember on the reading comp. part is that there may be an answer that is right, but there could be an answer that is better. Also, remember that it is timed, and it may be computerized.

I hope that helps!;)

the best study guide is the net/hobet study guide, but you probably don't have time to order it. are you 100% sure it's the net you're taking? there are no science questions on the net, although the reading comprehension questions are science-oriented. (i just took it in august and did great.) don't worry about the stress management and other junk. they don't count in your score. the only things that make up your score are the math and reading comprehension.

the best thing to do is practice the test. the net study guide has 2 practice tests, but if you can't get ahold of that study guide, go to eriworld.com and pay $15 to take the practice net. it's worth every penny. (i don't have the exact page link handy, but if you click on the store link, you should be able to locate the practice test.) you can take it immediately after paying for it.

the math is extremely basic. extremely. if you can do fractions and percentages and pre-algebra at the most elementary level, you'll do fine. here's a quick example: convert 300% to a decimal. answer: 3.0. convert 3% to a decimal. answer: 0.03 do those easy, quickie ones first so that you can take your time on the slightly more involved calculations.

the reading is not hard, but the questions are maddeningly tricky. but you can usually eliminate 2 answers right off the bat and concentrate on the other 2 answers as possibilities.

the most important thing to remember about the net is to keep your eye on the time. if you don't, you will run out of time, especially on the reading section. and before you read a reading comp. section, skim the questions, so you know what to look for in the paragraph(s).

fantastic! :w00t:

did the 15 science questions count toward your score, or was it just the reading and math? i stand corrected about the science, but i *think* it's still just reading and math that counts toward your composite score. so please let us know!

congrats again!!
