i have a net exam on monday morning, i decided to go to barnes & noble to get a study guide. all i could find is nursing school entrance exam by kaplan. it does not say net but it seems to be similar. does anyone know if this is ok to study for the net? also, anyone whos taken it, how hard is it? i"m sooooooo nervous!!! they said it would cover a large variety of material, from reading, math, science, to stress management & critical thinking. also said it could take up to 4 hours! wow..now my mind is going nuts thinking how much info must i know by monday? any info would help and hearing from anyone thats already taken it would also be helpful. thanks alot!
the best study guide is the net/hobet study guide, but you probably don't have time to order it. are you 100% sure it's the net you're taking? there are no science questions on the net, although the reading comprehension questions are science-oriented. (i just took it in august and did great.) don't worry about the stress management and other junk. they don't count in your score. the only things that make up your score are the math and reading comprehension.
the best thing to do is practice the test. the net study guide has 2 practice tests, but if you can't get ahold of that study guide, go to eriworld.com and pay $15 to take the practice net. it's worth every penny. (i don't have the exact page link handy, but if you click on the store link, you should be able to locate the practice test.) you can take it immediately after paying for it.
the math is extremely basic. extremely. if you can do fractions and percentages and pre-algebra at the most elementary level, you'll do fine. here's a quick example: convert 300% to a decimal. answer: 3.0. convert 3% to a decimal. answer: 0.03 do those easy, quickie ones first so that you can take your time on the slightly more involved calculations.
the reading is not hard, but the questions are maddeningly tricky. but you can usually eliminate 2 answers right off the bat and concentrate on the other 2 answers as possibilities.
the most important thing to remember about the net is to keep your eye on the time. if you don't, you will run out of time, especially on the reading section. and before you read a reading comp. section, skim the questions, so you know what to look for in the paragraph(s).
