Need Advice on Nursing Program Selection

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello, I am having a terrible time trying to decide what to do. I am currently 2 weeks into attending Kaplan College in Dayton, Ohio with the intention to receive my associates degree in 18 months. My plan after I finished at Kaplan was to transfer to a 4 year university to finish with my BSN. However, I just recently discovered that Kaplan is nationally accredited and many schools (Ohio University, University of Cincinnati etc.) will either not take the credits all together or just a few to go toward my BSN. I'm not sure if I should stop going to Kaplan all together or continue and hope that they will take the credits when I'm done. Does any have any suggestions? I'm so lost and just ready to finally have my degree. Also, does anyone have any suggestions of other schools with good 2 year programs in Ohio. Thank you.

I would advise you to look elsewhere if a four year college does not accept Kaplan credits. Wasting time and money are two of the worst things. I am not sure what community college are in Dayton, but Columbus State Community College has a two year RN program, then you would be able to completely transfer the credits you get there to a four year college such as OSU, Mount Carmel, OU, etc.

Thank you so much for the advice! In my heart I feel like I don't want to go to Kaplan but I just don't want to make the mistake of going to another college when they promise no waiting list but that's what I get. I'm 22 now so I don't want to graduate when I'm 30 years old.

That's understandable. Have you looked at community colleges near Dayton? You should look into applying to get your ADN at one, and even if there is a wait, you can still do your pre-requisites before being officially in the program.
