Just wanted to chime in about my Summer Micro. Started two weeks ago, it is a six week class. My professor is difficult. He even told us that he will be harder than our other professors because he wants us to think. Yes, it is good to think, but it is going by very fast. That is good in a way, but we have to read the text, read the online power points, take notes in class, and he suggested that we tape the lectures. I just had my first test today. I make a's in my classes and I just don't know about this one. But I start NS in Aug and this is my last support course so I wanted to get it done and over with. Good Luck to everyone. I have three more lecture tests, two lab practicals, two unknowns in lab to get through yet
    mom35, who's your professor?

My Micro class starts in July and it's only 4 weeks long. I'm nervous but I've been in a 4 week A & P II class for the past 3 weeks to prepare me for the fast pace. Micro is my last pre-req. I start my nursing classes for my BSN in August!

Sand Dollar, thanks for starting the thread. I'm 1 week into my 8 week class and we're using Tortora & Funke. First exam is next week and my kids are driving me nuts as I try to study! Good luck to everyone!

I also started mine last week and its condensed into 6 weeks. We go over a chapter a day. I am really starting to contemplate dropping the class. I just feel like things are going wayyy too fast and I don't want to risk getting a bad grade. Class + lab is about 5 hours a day.

My teacher just up and quit, 3 weeks into the semester. Nice, yeah?

Oh well, I'm still doing okay. Just started two weeks of fermentation labs. I hope there's good results tomorrow.

I find the class very interesting but I honestly don't care for the labs, I'm not very good remembering that they are in the incubator, lol. I am SO thankful that the units are due every other week, my last AP unit took me over 30 hrs to do in one week - a 15 page lab report!!! When I started micro I thought I would have to do up a whole lab report for each lab, that wasn't the case, thank goodness. Its a report that puts them all together and asks questions, that sort of thing. I only have to do two full lab reports this class, I love it because I am up to my eyeballs in AP labs! Oh, and we get to take the quizzes TWICE - sweet!

Just finished a simple stain lab tonight and it seems my brain is stuck on stupid. Anyone care to help with an answer? "Consider a coccus and bacillus of equal volume. Which is more likely to survive in a dry environment? Which would be better adapted to a moist environment?"
