Microbio & A&PII

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm trying to make out my schedule for spring and I'm not sure how difficult microbioogy will be. So, I was thinking of taking it in the summer and just taking A&P II in the spring, but I would like to take both at the same time if possible.

Does anyone have any advice on if its not too difficult to take both at the same time.

THANKS!!

Wow, that would be quite a lot of information to process in one semester! Are you already accepted into a nursing program? Or are you getting pre-reqs finished up for admission? Put the classes together if it will enable you to move foward faster, or if you have time to wait before NS take them seperately just so it won't be so stressful! Stress can wait for those actual nursing classes!

I'm turning my application in soon, but I won't know for sure if I'm in until May. I have to take an entrance exam sometime at the first of the year. The only classes that are absolutely required is college algebra and a&p. I think I might take safety/first aid & cpr class and then just take micro in the summer.

Both of those classes are very demanding. I took A&P before Micro and I think I grasped micro better after knowing the body in detail. Although my school you can take micro first if you wanted, I wouldn't do that to yourself.

Taking together in my opinion would be harder. Plus you also have to remember, they both have labs.

Good luck with deciding what to do, and good luck with your entrance exam and getting into the program. I hope next year this time you will be over in the nursing student forum. :)

Wow you are lucky to have so few class requirements!! If it's not needed as a pre-req than take your time and do them one at a time so you can get the most out of each class. Good luck and I hope you get your acceptance letter in May! :nurse:

I don't know what else you have going on in your life now, but I took both together with 3 kids a husband that travels and did great. It was alot of work you have to devote alot of time to both, but there were a couple things that overlapped. I will also add that they were my two favorite courses so far, I really enjoyed both so that makes a big difference!

Hey there!

I took micro and A&P together last semester and it was fine, my biggest piece of advice would be to stay on top of the work in the classes. They are both great courses and you'll enjoy taking them together.

;)

I too took both classes at the same time,I took them in a summer semester that was 8 weeks long. I got an A in both classes. I think you need to just think about how much the work is and how you're going to be able to balance it all out. Try planning out a schedule. Let me know what you decide and how it goes! Good luck :)

hey where did you take those summer courses? please say somewhere in CA

I plan on taking them both in the spring, and they will be my only 2 classes so I feel like I can devote a lot of time to them.

I could take one of them over the summer..... but I thought that would be more difficult. ??? It seems like a LOT of information to go over in such a short amount of time. And I think classes are Mon-Thurs, which I'm not too crazy about.

Now assuming that I don't change my mind & continue to take them both in the spring..... I'm trying to decide if I should take them BOTH on Mon/Wed - ALL day (and then have Tues/Thurs/Fri free - I work Sat & Sun)..... OR.... take one class on Mon/Wed and another Tues/Thurs.

Decisions! Decisions! It's never easy!!!

I took the summer classes at Anne Arundel Community college in MD, sorry :(,look around though, theres some schools that have them online and have labs that are online too...they're usually at private colleges and cost a bit more, but if you're in a pinch it works.

arabmagic, summer isn't too bad with micro. A&PII is alot to cover in a summer semester. I remember we covered a system a week and had a test every week and 2 tests some weeks. I felt overwhelmed but survived. Like I said, with Micro, it seems to fit better as an 8 week class. Labs are twice a week ( well they were for me) so you get test results quick and some information about some diseases and viruses you've heard before.

Good luck with your decision!

I'm taking Anat and Micro together and I think it's fine. It all comes down to your study habits and how hard your prof decides to be. I have great Prof's that provide me with all kinds of resources so I'm getting an A in both classes. I don't know how hard a combined Anat and Phys class is since I took Phys separately.
