Mdc Students For Nursing? What Gpa Did You All Get Accepted With?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I have been coming to this sight a lot lately. I am off the wall with this whole process on getting into the MDC nursing program. I applied to the generic program for Fall/2008.:banghead:.

Basically I am waiting for the acceptance letter which they already told me are going to be send out starting on March 16th. I imagine that those who are not accepted from the get go will get their letters first hand, and those who are accepted will get there letters first as well. For those who may be accepted I can imagine it might take more time. The school will probabley see who is going to be in the program, and who decides not to go in.

Anyway, I am so nervous. I really would appreciate some insight how just how high your GPA has to be. I have heard HORROR stories. The advisors in MDC are horrible (Well some not all.) At least a lot of the medical campus advisors are not to helpful. Everytime I talk to someone they tell me something new .

I really want to hear from students who are applying and what their GPA is. Also students who have been accepted into the generic program for Miami Dade College, what was there GPA when getting accepted?

I want to be a labor and delivery nurse. I finally found that was for me when I gave birth to my son two years ago. I have been working hard ever since, and I am extremely discouraged and nervous with all the talk about the GPA's for MDC.

Please anyone with insight into this. I would appreciate ALL the advise that is offered. Let me know:rolleyes:.

I applied to both the generic and accelerated programs. My bachelors GPA is so-so at a 3.0. I kind of slacked off in undergrad. However, since I am incredibly motivated to get into the program my nursing prerequisite GPA is 4.0.

Awesome. So what is you cummalitive GPA? Does the bachelors count in the calculation for the GPA? You must be really exited. Which program will you end up picking? A lot of choices to make, you must be super nervous.

I don't know whether or not they take my previous GPA into account. If given the choice I would pick the generic option over the accelerated option because the pace wouldn't be as fast and it's only one semester longer. At first, I was completely focused on entering the accelerated program because I thought the generic took a lot longer to complete, but I was wrong. It's only slightly longer. I am really excited and nervous. Which campus did you complete your prerequisites in? I did mine at the Kendall campus.

Well I did my pre-reqs in different campuses. In the Interamerican, and also in the Wolfon. Right now I am in the Wolfson campus, because I also work here part-time. It makes my life much easier.

Aside from that I wish I could go to Kendall. They have a cafeteria there. I know this sounds silly, but when I get hungry(which is everyday obviously.) There is never anything to eat around here. Wolfson has the tiny tiny cafeteria which I do not like to much.

Plus Kendall campus is really nice.

I also applied for the Fall 08 Generic option at MDC, but the deadline to apply was May1st:stone, so I don't think you'd get a letter in March... They told me that they will start sending out acceptance letters late May, early June.

About the advisors, I dont know how bad they really suck because I've only dealt with North Campus, and they REALLY suck! Based on my research, and what the advisors at the medical campus said, the acceptance committee takes your ALL CUM GPA into consideration, not just prereqs. One advisor told me that with a 3.5 ALL CUM GPA I should get in. Im just worried because I messed up my first semester in college and got an F in BSC2085L and a D in BSC2085 lecture at BCC :bluecry1:. I switched to MDC, retook my classes, and got As in them & all the other sciences I needed. :yeah:

My ALL CUM is 3.5, and my CUM is 3.72. I'm anxious about getting in also, so I applied for the sonography too as a back-up.

Well good luck to you, I hope to see you on the day of orientation WHEN WE BOTH GET IN!:lol2:

So do I. I also messed up in anatomy and had to take it again. I took it online and gave birth. This is the reason I am so worried as well. I am worried off the wall. You should be fine with only two classes gone wrong. Have you gotten a letter for a scholarship at MDC and a mandatory meeting?

Hi,

I also applied for the Fall MDC Generic Program. Yesterday I received an email from them inviting me to the information session about scholarship with affiliated area hospitals.

That must be what you are talking about. The meetings are next week.

Check out your email on mystudent site and let me know.

Good luck to you!:nurse:

Yes it is. I already set up a date. A lot of people have told me once you get that, you are basically in. But we will have to see. I am super nervous. How are you fairing?

I already set up my date to attend, too. It's funny. Before I heard about the information session I was pretty mellow about the whole thing. But now, I'm really anxious and nervous about getting in.

Tell me about it. I am on the same boat.

Nervous, anxious and I'm out of town!

I'm currently in New Hampshire and won't be flying back till the 22nd of May, the day after the meeting.

I already emailed the school back to see about obtaining the information some other way.

My GPA is high, but I know that there must be a lot of applications.

Well, please let me know what you find out when you go, I can't leave earlier (illness in the family).

Good luck and lets keep in touch.
