Knock, knock, where are the A&P 1 students

Just want to check in with y'all....how is everyone, I suspect completely emerged into studying. I have been studying and studying and studying some more. The muscle monster might just get me in the end:chair: .....I am so overwhelmed with the lecture and lab portion. Last day to drop was yesterday and we are only 2 students left. It's been a nightmare to be in that class. I just need to find the strength to make it to the finish line.....:uhoh3:

I hope everyone is in good health and safe.

Gimme a pulse :chuckle

I am buried in muscles myself right now. Two more units until a break - woohoo! I am loving A&P, but feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. Too much life stress got in the way during this unit, so it's been rough.

Thanks for the encouragement on the Micro. Angel, I am a full-time working mom myself, going to school part time. Hopefully I can pull it off too! :D

I just completed my run with the muscles of the body. I had to attend the lab sessions that weren't even mine just so i could spend more time looking and studying the muscles. Luckly that extra time paid off b/c i scored a 102 on my quiz on Friday!! But indeed it is very stressing. Now onto the Cardiovascular System...Have to learn the heart and all the structures of the heart. I guess i will be attending more labs this week...Only about 1 month to go...YAY!! Only then on to A&P 2....AHHHHHH!!

Good luck everyone...WE CAN DO IT!:)

Biggest pointer I can give you for Micro. is to buy the Microbiology Coloring Book! It helped me A LOT (much more than the A&P one has)! Micro. was not at all as interesting to me as A&P is. I kept telling myself, "WHY do I need to know what color the agar changes to with certain bacteria? I'm not studying to be a lab tech!" :uhoh3: The class requires just as much studying as A&P, but it's not as much memorization. I managed to get "A's" in lecture and lab. If I can do it (being a FT working mom/PT student), ANYONE can do it!

Angel

Awsome, thanks for the pointer. :)

It's so much information on how muscles function and what they are made up of..... and the complicated cellular respiration is giving me a headache.....but I can do it. Thanks everyone for sharing, it makes me feel better and less disconnected from the world. I don't have much outside contact, and only one....yes, ONE fellow student. We are only two left in this class and we have to 'borrow' study partners from other classes :chuckle I am taking Microbiology in the spring. There is no way in HELL :angryfire that I will take this teacher for A&P2. I'll take it in the fall when other good teachers will be available.

Hang in there, guys. We can do it, yes we can!!!!!!

Studying my butt off...we have two more lecture tests, one is on Thursday, covering nervous system and spinal cord. Then a big lab practical and final on Dec. 7th. After blowing my last lecture test I've become a recluse...locked in the bedroom studying.

I love A&P and I'm looking forward to part 2 for winter quarter, I'm putting micro off til next fall while I finish up a few other pre-reqs.

Kudos stpauligirl for having the huevos to be one of the last 2 still standing in your class, I'm impressed!!!

At my school, Anatomy and Physiology are split up into seperate classes. I'm currently taking Anatomy I. Soooo much studying! We've already finished the unit on muscles; it killed me! I passed, but not without a whole lot of stress and frustration. Yesterday, I had a midterm which covered the cardiovascular system (including heart, circulation, all major veins and arteries), lymphatic system, joints and articulations (no idea why this was not in the skeleton unit), and the nervous system (including CNS and PNS, neurons, all cranial nerves, etc). That's a whole lotta stuff for one test! I studied forever, and I feel I did well. Thankfully, there is no final exam with all the accumulated information. I'm still stressed to the max pretty much all the time though. I think I'll enjoy the Physiology course a lot more.

I am thrilled, I got a 92 on the Lecture test and 99 on the Lab test. The lecture test I was shocked because I thought I had done really bad. It was an awful day with my son being in the ER all afternoon/evening and then me rushing to school without a chance to review on last time. He hands out the tests in grade order, from hightest to lowest, so I was surprised when he handed me my paper third.

We are on to muscles and I really need to make a system for memorizing them. If anyone has any ideas?

Wow, StPaulie, only two left in your class! Your teacher must be really difficult. We have a hard teacher, and still 2/3 of the class left. But I think alot are planning on dropping at the last minute.

Yes, our teacher is very difficult, I am going through hell and I feel quite uncomfortable to be in a class with only 2 students....congrats on your fabulous score. Sick children can turn everything upside down. I had a similar situation with my son last fall where he needed to go to the ER while I needed to take a test.( the same morning we had the paramedics at our house because he had difficulty breathing:crying2: I was fortunate that my husband was able to take him to the hospital but I couldn't think straight on my test because I was so upset and worried. The lecture muscle test portion is diffucult to understand, lots of complicated processes. At least I have the option to drop one test score....it may have to be this one if I can't get a grade above 85 on it. I currently have a 94 average in the course. The lab portion is crazy also....we need to know a lot of muscles with their origin, action, innervation and we will also have questions on the labtest about muscle function.....aaarrrggghhh, soooooo much! I am so depressed and tense, it's awful!!!!

Micci and stpauilgirl,

I found this site really helpful for the muscle lab exam, it helped me to ace it! It doesn't have all of the muscles you'll need to know, but it does an excellent job with alot of them.

Here is another good one for testing yourself on the muscles, I just took the lab exam and lecture exam last week.
