It's official......I'm nuts

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

:uhoh3:

I can't take it. I just can't take it anymore.

I check these forums everyday hoping to find someone an alum or applicant from the SFSU Nursing program. I Google all possible phrases similar to "SFSU Nursing students" to try and find someone who is in or has graduated from the program.

I found a website from the first graduating class at the Canada program (SFSU has a satellite program that people with a BA/BS can apply to - the main campus doesn’t take 2nd bach, so this program allows people to apply and earn their BSN from SFSU though classes are held at a community college in Redwood City called Canada College) and I just find myself being INSANELY jealous of them.:angryfire

I PRAY (mind you, I’m not religious) that I get in and waiting until the last week of this month or early April is EATING AT MY SOUL. :crying2:

Am I nuts? Nevermind. Don't answer that....I know the answer already, I'm just in denial. :trout:

*Sigh*

:roll:roll

HAHAHA. this thread is crazy! I just discovered this and all i can say while reading is;

Check. Check. Check. Check to practically everything!

What about this: a file that tallies GPAs, NLN scores of people admitted to programs! Hahahahhaha! and of course to my program of choice!

Gawsh!

Okay, this is an nuts in a freaky way:

I received a confirmation email for my application stating the GPA they were using to compute my standing.... well, surprise surprise, they sent me 2 emails: one of another applicant (complete with the name and address), whose GPA is around 0.37 points greater than mine!

Sweet.

Been a month since this email. Still dream about this applicant. So tempted to stallk this person! So wrong on so many levels.

Two more months!

if it werent for allnurses...

(should I track down this applicant):rolleyes:

The only consilation is that you have a time projection. I don't know when these people are going to call and IF they are going to call.

I stay up alllllll night just looking up stuff on google, trying to find anything about the school since i can't sleep and the terrible thing is that i have to be up at 6 in the morning to go to work. I just sit up worrying and worrying and worrying some more.

Im telling you, when this is all over im going to congress and starting a law against making nursing student hopefuls wait!

:yeahthat: mystqx!!!!

i cant sleep either! I have an exam tomorrow even!! hope they cancel it with the snow storm coming!

I understand you're waiting for a reply anyday right?! hoping the best for you!!!!

Wow. I didn't realize that this thread would be so popular. That certainly lifts my spirits. Now I know I’m not the only Google freak! ;) I love you Mystiqx!!! :p

Mystiqx - You have *such* a good sense of personality and excellent sense of humor. WHEN you get your interview, I’m sure they will see that!

If it's any consolation (though I doubt it will be) - I almost didn’t graduate high school (I had a 2.1) and (though I am embarrassed to admit), I got an 800 on my SAT (most of which was jut writing my name ;) ). After high school, I went to CC and did much better (my home life changed dramatically after my brother passed and my mother divorced my stepfather - a real a**hole; (NOTE: I am not saying that my brother was the reason for me not doing well in HS, but b/c much of my time was spent helping my mother take care of him, I was pretty dysthymic most of the time. It very sad to watch your brother deteriorate like that - very painful to even write about, so I will leave it at that).

Anyway, in CC my GPA shot to a 3.4. I got VERY involved in academic stuff etc. And I ended up transferring to UCLA!! :)

My point is that even though you have lots of screw-up's in your past, if they see improvement, it's tells them a lot (IMHO, anyway). I hope they think the same way I do.

I don’t know you, but I can tell you are passionate and I think you (like all of us, once we get enough experience) will be an excellent nurse. It's easy for me to say "Don’t worry - you'll get in", but I really think you will.

BTW, I like your law. My sister just graduated form law school...I'll send her a proposal.:chuckle

Hey Jewels thanks for the vote of confidence, I really appreciate it. You story sounds a little like mine, when i attended my CC i did stellar, my last semester i started struggling i think because i must have realised at some point that i didn't want to go to med school. Its what my parents wanted so i couldn't argue. Then i transfered to my uni and it was a disaster, to top it off my grandmother who raised me in the caribbean had a relapse in her cancer. SHe went into a coma the night before my bio finial and passed away the day after school finished. I understand about you and your brother, its hard to talk about my gran she raised me and i was very attached to her.

Its the end of the week and no phone call, so we will see what next week brings. I will do my best to keep my hopes and spirits up.

Now we return to our regularly scheduled program of nutty things obsessed pre-nursing students do.....

OK this one is a kicker, I'm a HUGEEEEEE bookworm, i LOVE reading and collecting books, i just like going to Barnes and Nobles and standing among the stacks and just feeling the energy from the books ( Weirddddd I Know) anyway, know what I do? I go find the nursing section and stand there staring longingly at the nursing books during my lunch break at work. I'll stare at the NCLEX books, the reference books, sometimes i even peek in them and then put them back right quick cause i don't want to jinx myself. I even found the ISBN number for one of the text books my school is using and i searched it on every bookstore website i knew just to stare at it.

ugh...SICK!!!!! :chuckle:chuckle

Um, no! NOT weird. I just love being in the book store. There are so many I want to read, but I never have time to finish them. It makes me feel like a slacker....

I think that's what I'll do tonight...go and look at nursing books. :D . As I'm flipping the pages, I'll think of you....:)
