Is anyone not taking summer classes?

  1. i have read a few threads on here about different summer classes people are taking and i was wondering if there was anyone out there that isn't taking summer classes. i'm not taking any classes until fall, mostly because i'm a stay at home mom with two kids with me all day and another in school, and i know i don't have the time for a compressed schedule. the long semesters work much better for me. is there anyone else in the same boat or just taking the summers off as breathing room? if there is, what do you do to keep from going nuts over the summer break? i am taking my first science pre-req (a&p i) in the fall, and have ordered some books to look over to possibly get a jump start in understanding the material. is there anything else i should be doing?

on top of that, i have to file a do with my state bon and now that i've sent all my paperwork in, i'm in hurry up and wait mode. i feel like i'm going nuts. any suggestions to help the time pass?

I took last summer off but I am attending school this summer. You pretty much are doing all you can in regards to school work, getting a jump start is a great idea but don't stress yourself if you don't understand it now. I kept busy last year by doing housework/yardwork, swimming, a couple weekend trips, and hosting more than a few sleepovers for my kids. No matter what you do the time flies. Just focus on being a great mom but please give yourself some breaks from your kids to keep yourself sane. Maybe a weeekend moms/girls trip!

Thank you for your reply. I know that I tend to worry about things more than I should, and I do hope the time will pass quickly. I guess it's mostly the fact that I'm waiting for the response from the BON makes me feel just a little freaked out. I guess I feel like I've based the next part of my life on their decision, and lemme tell ya, that feeling SUCKS!! lol I guess it's just because I really want to be a nurse! I have a great hubby that gives me breaks from the kids whenever he's here and I need them, so I should be good there. I don't know if he'd let me go away for the weekend though, I might come back and the kids be duct taped to the wall or something LMAO (I'm just kidding about that)

I've taken everything I need so I don't need to take anything this summer. I start nursing in the fall. What else are you taking in the fall besides A&P1?

I have A&P I, English I, a Speech Class, and College Algebra. I'm gonna be busy that's for sure!!

I'm not taking anything in the summer because I am done with all my classes.
I'm starting a nursing program in August and thought about a summer CNA course, but decided against it.

Fall semester last year I took A&P1, english 2 and college seminar (stupid half a semester class my school makes ya take to orient you with school and studying etc etc.). Then this passed semester I took A&P2, sociology, life span and CPR (half a semester). It was definitely much harder the 2nd semester because of more classes. So I always tell people take as many classes as possible before A&P because it takes up so much time! But it's obviously doable, you just have to bust your a$$....So good luck!!!

Holy smokes! Good luck! I took Public Speaking and English Lit last summer and I was buried in writing (along with US History and Music online; no writing, no assignments, just reading and tests)... couldn't imagine algebra and science on top.

I took an incomplete in my Spring algebra class at the recommendation of my teacher since I was cutting it too close for a total bomb of a grade if I tanked my final. So I am having "private algebra class" while he teaches an honors calculus. It will be enough for me. I'm BURNED OUT.

    Hi,
I'm taking College Algebra in the summer, but not for another 3 weeks. I bought Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul & the Second Dose. Great books and a must read.

Well I hope it's not too much for me to do. Next semester it's A&P II, Micro, English II, and Developmental Psych. I'm actually more worried about taking those classes than this semester, especially since to apply for next fall I would have to take the HESI entrance exam in Feb or March. I'm wondering how that's gonna work out.

I think I'll be OK. I know it's gonna be tough, but no one said it was gonna be easy. Nothing worth having is. Anyway, I figure I should do OK because I am excellent at English so I figure the writing assignments won't be that huge of a deal. I know A & P is gonna kick my A$$, but I'm ready. As for algebra, well I have my own private tutor. My husband is wonderful at math, and he said he would help me study so that I can understand it, other than most math teachers that might as well be speaking Greek to me. Him helping me study for the THEA test is the reason I passed the math portion. So, keeping my fingers crossed, I hope to get my A's and get on with my life lol

I took a Medical Terminology class last semester. I liked the way it was taught. We had 4 tests, and study guides. There weren't any assignments. I made an A. I think that was the easiest class I have taken.
