I'm so mad at myself....I screwed up my gpa.

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm 24, and I've been trying to raise my GPA, and I've been successful, but it's not enough to enter the nursing program. My GPA is 2.73, and to enter nursing school it has to be a 2.75 or higher. When I first attended college at the age of 19, my GPA was a 3.5, I started going out and partying and not giving a rats butt about college. As a result, my GPA has dropped so low.:angryfire I'am so dissapointed in my self. I still wan't to be a nurse and have been taking classes over, at least the ones I did bad in. I still have a few more to complete, so I have a chance to raise it more. Has anyone been in the same boat as I'am?:crying2: Boy does the past come back and bite you when you least expect it!

i had a 3.5 and failed my first semester of clinicals. i ha a B in theory, but since I failed clinical, i got an F for the whole 9 credit class. It took my gpa down to a 2.4.... I would kill for a freakin' 3.0. I took three classes (got 2 As and a B) and got it up to a 2.55, just enough to qualify to apply to other nursing schools, when I had my interview at this (kinda competitive) school I wanted to get into, I just explained what happened and what do ya know.. I GOT IN.

gpa isnt everything. If you have drive, and they can see that, and they see that you have done well in other classes that count, you'll be fine.

I'm in the same boat as you, my GPA is a 1.9 I think, HORRIBLE! I withdrew, failed, you name it. Its really biting me in the butt now that I have 3 little ones and really want a better life for me and them. Like a previous poster said you just have to learn from your mistakes and not repeat them. Best of luck to you!

Dear CarrieN23,

I was wondering if you are still attempting to go to Nursing school or have you decided that you will go into another area.

My gpa was actually a lot worse than yours, it was a 2.2 which obviously isn't enough for nursing or any other real program. I messed up too, I wasn't partying I just didn't take college seriously the first year. I was still in the HS mind I guess and missed a few assignments that I didn't feel like doing, plus I didn't really like the college I was going to. I transferred schools and thankfully the GPA doesn't go with you, just the grades. So all the classes I got a C or better in transferred with me. I'm applying to the clinical portion of nursing for next fall and my GPA at the school I'm at now is 3.385 (finishing up pre-reqs for this year) and it should be a 3.5 when I finish up this current semester in two weeks.

Oh wow, I'm not the only one with a low GPA. I didn't party either, just didn't take college seriously. Or even if I did, it was soo hard. What school did you transfer to? I need to raise my GPA up a lot!

My GPA suffered at times while I was in UG. I was involved in many extra-curricular activities and honestly never learned how to properly studied (i.e. I lacked discipline).

I notice that many people claim that they didn't do well because they partied, didn't take school seriously, etc.

I can't blame my sub-stellar performance on anything but MYSELF. I didn't do the work, while others were busting their rears off. I take full responsibility.

I lacked discipline too. I gave into sleep a lot. I couldn't wake up for class. Etc.

I dragged myself to the early classes...and realized after a month of falling asleep and drooling on myself, I would rather just stay in my bed. It sucked since there was only one huge lecture for bio majors...either you registered for this section or you didn't register at all.

:yeah: i am so proud of myself, i got in to the nursing program. i have just finished my first week in the program.

i hear ya all.....i am 48,graduated from college in 1983....2. somethng gpa....kicking myself now a days for not listening to my parents...oh well live and learn right...

i have completed my 2 pre reqs...alg and chem...have all the eng, psychs, bios and writing classes from my degree....my chem and alg was taken last spring semester,so that raised my GPA some...i have applied for the fall of 11...i just received a letter from the school saying i have met the min qualifications for the RN program and that i will hear in march if accepted.....

i emailed the senior admissions person to ask what else i could do....he said letters of recommendation from work and from my LPN instructors will be looked at as well....so i had some sent in....i am so nervous!!

I have been in the same boat. I went to a comm. college a looong time ago. I was a kid. I partied like a rock star and my reward was a 2.6. Around here, that gpa won't get you into a university. I busted my buns and managed to pull it up to a 3.56 in one semester. We will see how this pans out. Best of wishes to you all and congrats for you who got accepted! Woo hoo! :yelclap:
