Hello All,

I am new to allnurses! Just wondering how are people paying for school! I plan on going back to school this fall to finish my pre-reqs for nursing which I started 5yrs ago. I do work full time as medical assistant but I know at some point I will have to quite. How are you all planning to support your families while in nursing schoo?

Well for me, I always wanted to go back to school, but I couldn't fit it in my lifestyle. As much as I wanted too I knew I couldn't; If I did I wouldn't be able to devote as much time as I would like too. I recently got my chance to go back since I was recently Laid off. My support will be coming from my husband and unemployment. I am rather ****** about it but it couldnt have come at a better time...I guess. If u can afford to quite than do it! But if u cant you should find a part time job and go to school part time. But remember going to school, working, and raising a family is a heavy load. Be prepared ,find out all the info u can! Best of luck

My husband works full time and we have to save our pennies, but I know one day it will be worth it.

Dear Hubby works 60 hours a week, 3rd shift, to support our family while I am in school. Money is a bit tight and we don't get to see each other as much as we would like, but it's what we have to do to make it work and we both know it will be worth it in the end. He is definately looking forward to me working again so he can go back to a normal 40hr work week!

:yeah:To All the supporting husbands who help make dreams reality!

I work a FT job and will continue to do so througout school. I'm lucky enough to live close to a school that offers an ADN program part time on nights and weekends. I make more than my husband so I don't have the option of going part time or quitting unfortunately. I know it's not going to be easy (especially after talking to a student that transfered to this school from Ohio State and said it was 10x's harder!) but where there is a will there is a way!

I'm working FT while completing my prereqs, and we are saving as much money as possible right now while we're both working. Once I start nursing school, I'll work part time, and we'll probably have to take out some loans to make up for my lost income. It's not ideal, but it's certainly doable.

I am working FT to pay the bills. I also get $ from the USArmy Spouse Advancement Initiative, Worksource and a BCBS scholarship! :)
