    One substance present, three phases present. The answer is that it's a pure substance. But why? I don't understand how

    Two substances present, three phases present. The answer is that its a hetero substance

    Three substances present, one phase present. The answer is that its a homo substance

    Can someone explain this to me? I don't understand what a phase is

    The phases that they are referring to is liquid (l) solid (s) and gas (g).
