Yeah, there are always pre-reqs to the pre-reqs and sometimes the school doesnt mention that. They should have a degree completion sheet for your program at your counselors office--go see if tehy will fill out what you need exactly.

    Good luck!

talk to your degree counselor and let them explain to you where you need to start before you can register for your chemistry and biology classes.
i strongly recommend for you to take chemistry before taking a&p and microbiology....it will make things a little easier to get an a in those classes.
i am glad that i did it in that order.

I would talk to your advisor and find out what classes will actually need to be taken before A&P and Micro. I took advanced physiology as a transfer credit in case I bridge into the RN program and it stated that chemistry was recommended before this class was taken. Anyways I took the class without taking chemistry first and I passed with an "A". I still have not taken chemistry yet, but will need to if I go for my RN.

First of all, to reassure you, chemistry is not hard, it's just time consuming. I was shaking in my shoes over all the drama people were making about how "hard" a&p and micro would be. It turned out they were totally doable, you just have to put the time in.

I suggest you don't even read the chemistry threads on the prenursing forum because you could scare myself to death over nothing! I'm almost done with chem 104 with an A, and you can do it too.

    Cheers,

I was also one of those students that was dreading chemistry - ended up walking out of it with an A and I feel like I study way, way more for my nursing courses than I ever did with chemistry. The only prereq required was beginning algebra, and if you scored high enough on the placement test you didn't even need to take it.

I had taken biology and A&P before I tackled chemistry. I'm not really sure if it makes a difference what you take first....chemistry seemed way different from biology and A&P, at least to me! But you definitely need some basic algebra skills under your belt.

Chemistry is not hard. You must stay up with the class. If you find yourself overwelmed, get to a tutor FAST. Keep doing problems. Utilize online resources. Work all the problems in your book. Ask you prof to give you some additional assignments (he just printed some off the internet for me and gave me the answers to check myself) I got a B, because I took it in the summer. I just did not have enough time. too much info for 8 weeks. I am taking part II this semester so I am hoping for an A!!!!!

just curious, why do you need algebra II? anyway, for the motivated student, it is quite do-able to take chem and algebra in the same semester, provided you manage your time wisely. are you also working? I wasn't working at the time, but I managed a 4.0 semester w/ 15 credit hours Physics I w/ Calc, Calc II, Oral interpretation (Speech class) and Theatre appreciation all in the same semester. It's just a matter of how hard are you willing to work for it?
