California: Discourged of your waiting list standing?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I know students whose tenative standings are in the #100's for nursing programs that can only allocate ~60 students per year/semester.

Based on my expereince and talks with pre-nursing coordinators and advisors. If you are ever in the waitlist and your placement isn't relativly close to being accepted into the program, please know:

1. The initial 60 students who got accepted right away, are the 4.0 GPA, almost perfect 90s TEAS score. They have been accepted to every program they applied to. They tend to go to the schools with higher reputation or more prestigous programs.

2. The next 60+ students have applied/accepted to multiple schools accross the state. Remember, they can only choose one.

3. Lastly, a hand full of students may drop the acceptance due to personal and unforseen reasons.

For one program, I personally was #131 on the waitlist. I was shocked to get a phone call from the school saying they have a spot open. Don't hesitate to DM me for any other questions
