Help!

:o

Can anyone recommend any helpful sites to get me through chem 101?! I'm 1/2 way through but just hanging in there with a 75%...that worries me! I am totally lost in class!

Does your school offer tutoring session? I can't tell you the number of classes I have had to use them for, and the number of classes I wouldn't have done well in without them.

I second this idea! I am not taking Chem this semester, but next, and I can guarantee that I will be down at the academic help center for help whenever I need it! Alot of my friends who did take Chem this semester are there all the time, and they have study sessions before major chem tests for anyone taking chem. I would try do that as much as possible!

Also maybe try asking the prof for help. This will show that you may have not done so well, but you are really determined to bring up your grade and understand the material, so I'm sure he or she would want to help. Well, not all professors do, but it is definitely worth giving it a shot!

I would offer to help, but like I said I haven't taken Chem yet. I am really nervous about it because I really struggled to get a C or a low B in high school. That was 2 years ago, so I don't even really remember the material. I am going to try all of what I listed about, work as hard as I can, and hope for the best! Good luck to you!

This may sound silly, but do you have kids? Are any of their old chem books hanging around?

when I was in chem, I got out my son's old chem book. For some reason, his book was easier for me to understand, even though they were dealing with the same material. Sometimes, comparing the two, the two would make sense together where neither of them did on their own.

Do you participate in study groups? I was (uh, well, still am) an older student. At first I was hesitant to join in groups with the younger students for fear of feeling out of place. But it really does help sometimes to be talking things out with other people.

I got the CliffsStudySolver for Chemistry to use in conjunction with the textbook for my Chem class. It has been huge help- sometimes both the textbook and my professor can be confusing. The Cliff's book explains things in a way that's very easy for me to understand. It's got alot of practice problems and worked solutions. I also have Chemistry for Dummies, which has helped me understand the concepts of chemistry. But it doesn't really help much with the math.

Hey everyone

Thanks for all the input! :twocents:

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

What are you having the most trouble with? Make sure you do as many example problems as you can get your hands on! :) I personally found chemistry to be extremely easy. I think I found it to be easy is because I would do all of the problems in the book, and I would go to websites and find extra problems. I would do a few problems a night and I would 'Ace' every exam. If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.
