    Okay everyone....I have the answer

I just got back from a session with my professor. According to *her* - she's not asking what happens when Pam calms down or acts next( she said that's why she didn't put what happened to Pam next...did she run? did she faint? did she vomit, etc etc).

So, basically, for the information that she's "startled" the entire answer goes under " sympathetic". Everything that happens to Pam the minute she startles is sympathetic. So, according to her...the Parasympathetic column is just supposed to be blank or " none" or " no effect"

BTW didn't know there was a homework board...guess I should look harder

    Hi BoonersMom,
That's good you got the answer straight from the "horses mouth". It sounds she just wanted to know what happened that instant. BTW, I should clarify what I meant about the homework board. I've seen posts started for the A&P club I and A&P club II under the Pre-nursing forum. Since all of you are studying the same thing, that would be a place to discuss homework questions.

I've also seen the student assistance forum where nursing students can ask nurses questions. https://allnurses.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=205 Of course, you are always welcome to start a new thread here.

But the main point is that you proposed one answer, got various answers from the "peanut gallery" and then compared notes with the prof. (Note her answer is the main one to consider for your class! )

Just a suggestion: when I didn't know an answer, I would look in the book, review my class notes and consult the internet. I might email my classmates or call them. Then I would send an email to the prof outlining what I thought the answer was but still had a few questions about it. That way it wasn't "I don't know the answer. What is it?", but rather, "I've considered A and B scenarios. So I believe the answer is C. Does this make sense?" She could tell I was thinking about the problem and was not looking for a handout. The prof and I had ongoing email dialogues during the quarter; I also asked questions in class and during her office hours. She really got to know me and I ended up with a A in her class.

Then when it came time to ask for a recommendation, it was easy for her to write about me. (I also gave her a short synopsis about my goals and background.) So don't be afraid to ask your prof questions. She'll know you are trying and working diligently in her class! Good luck!

    Thanks smile!

It just threw me..but she *winked* at me when I went to her saying everything should be under sympathetic right ha ha. Then she said you got it!

Somehow I have been tagged the " it" girl in my class..everyone comes to me for help w/ questions. I posted it on our discussion board and no one answered me I guess they either didn't know either or don't want to spill the beans!

Don't worry about starting a new thread BoonersMom. It's kind of hard to have a question answered by those of us who are just learning the material just as you are, or those of us who haven't reach that part of the Nervous System chapter.

Sometimes you do want help from "those who have already been there, done that."
