Anatomy and Physiology 2, Microbiology, and Pharmacology at the same time?

  1. Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has ever taking anatomy and physiology 2, microbiology, and pharmacology at the same time. I have heard they all are very hard classes. I want to get them all done in the same semester so I can apply sooner, but I also do not want my GPA to suffer because it's too much. Last semester I made an A in anatomy and physiology 1 and ended with a 4.0 GPA overall. So if anyone has any tips or reccomendations let me know. If it doesn't seem like a great idea I will just take the one I don't take the following semester. Microbiology and anatomy and physiology 2 seem like the heavy load classes, but I've also heard pharm is also very heavy load.
    Thank you

I'm usually the one that says "go for it," especially if you are a strong, motivated student. But I think those three classes together may be a tad much. Are you thinking about taking all three in the fall? If so, why not try to take one of them over the summer?

Pharmacology and A&P 2 are the most clinically relevant classes - and therefore, the classes that I call the "weeder classes." If you don't comfortably master either, all the rest of nursing, from med-surg to infectious disease and beyond, will be a challenge. In our program, if you failed out of pharmacology, you had to wait a year until it was offered again to move forward.

Give yourself the best odds possible and pick either one but not both. Especially if you have micro on your plate as well.

    Good luck.

I don't think this is a good idea. I took A&P and micro at the same time, and that in itself was difficult but manageable. Adding pharm would make things really hard for yourself. It COULD be possible, but you would have very little free time, even for your other classes... your entire life would revolve around those three classes.

I took anatomy and physiology II and Micro at the same time. I got A in both courses but I wouldn't recommend taking major science classes at the same time. If you take each science course separately you have more time to focus on the material and learn better instead of just memorizing.
A&P I is easy, but A$P II needs enough time to digest the material. I didn't like micro but it was not hard just a lot of info.
    I haven't taken Pharmacology yet.

So you suggest not even micro and Anatomy and Physiology 2 together? I understand what your saying and agree, it would be nice to have the time to really learn the information

I agree with all of the previous posters - taking all three classes together is not a great idea. Taking A&P 2 and micro together would be doable if you are a strong student with good time management skills.

Thank you everyone for your input, I appreciate it. I think I'm going to either take Micro and A and P 2 together, or one of those with pharm. Which combo would be best? Both micro and A and P 2 have labs but they might be good taken together
