I am new to the site and wanted to see if anyone could share any experiences with me in regards to transitioning from active duty to civilian nursing student. What were some of your main obstacles in your transition and most importantly was it worth it?
My situation is, I have been active duty for 11 years. The military was supposed to be temporary until I could figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Long story short, I got an opportunity to do a really unique job and through this job is where I decided I wanted to become a nurse. My education, housing and books are all paid for through my GI bill so money is not a concern. I am currently stationed in California and this is where I am looking to stay and complete my education. Also I want to separate early and I am willing to take the pay cut to start school full time to pursue a career in nursing.
From anyone's personal experience, has it been worth it to you, has it been worth the sacrifice?
- Thanks :-)
