About to take the TEAS Exam????????

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello........I've been away for awhile, but glad to be back! I received my letter to take the TEAS Test (Test of Essential Academic Skills). Has anyone taken this exam? I'm wondering how much this test counts for when deciding who will be in the next nursing class? I purchased a study guide, but am curious if the test will be set up the same way. Any help would be greatly appreciated .........thank you

sorry i cant help you with your question because i havent taken the test yet...i will have to take it when i apply to the bsn program though...as far as i know the test counts a lot for admission into the program...the better your score the better your chances for getting in...let me know how the test goes...GOOD LUCK!!!:)

I have taken it two times. The first time I got an 80% but was not happy about that since in one of the programs I am applying for, the higher the score the better. I did do better the second time after using their study guide. I did find it helped some. The reading and science parts were easy, the math challenged me a bit since the only math I have taken in college is stats. The english part was ok. The second program I am applying for says that as long as you get above a certain percentile you are ok. They are using it to weed some people out since there are so many. Good luck.

Hi! I'm going to take the TEAS in the next couple of weeks. I've been using the study guide, but have found that I'm not as knowlegable about genetics as I thought I was! It's really frustrating to me since I've received A's in ANP 1, and MICRO. Anyway, I'm wondering how closely the actual test resembles the study guide in terms of types of questions asked. Is the study guide harder than the test? Any help anyone could give would be great......I'm getting really nervous!

I found that the Reading part was very similar to the study guide. The math and english parts took a little of each section. The science part was much easier to me than the study guide. It was also one of the shorter sections. Good luck, let us know how you did.:)

Thanks! I will!

I'm sooooo glad it's overwith, now! Good luck to anyone else who is about to take this exam. You'll do fine.

Yes, I'm so relieved! Now all I have to do is make my application to the program and wait to find out if I've been accepted.

Keep in touch and let me know how your application process is going!! :)

I need to take the TEAS exam prior to admissions into my program and am wondering if Micro and AP is necessary for the exam? Thanks bonnie

If I start with CNA course and prereqs in the Spring semester when will I have to take the TEAS and which study manual is recommended? thanks!

I wouldn't say that you need to take A & P before the taking the TEAS as I have taken this test 3 times and each time there was like 1 question on it concerning anatomy. The science is mostly general science, physics, and chemistry. The TEAS study guide is really good for the English, math and reading section but USELESS for the science portion. Nothing in the study guide for the science comes remotely close to whats on the exam... Hopre this helps!
