A&P I Spring 2007 Semster - Welcome!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I will be taking A&P I next semester when I come back from Christmas break for the Spring 2007 semester. I didn't know if someone was going to start a group or not, so I thought I would create a thread to find those of us who have been "getting our feet wet" and are going to start into the fun stuff during the Spring 2007 semester. I look forward to seeing who all will be feeling my pain!

 Mine isn't going that fast. We have to go through basic chemistry, cells, tissues before we get to any system. She threw you right in. Which is kind of neat. I have all those "blah" chapters first. You will do great I am sure.

To add: Here is a link to anatomy of the vertebrae. Scroll down and you can choose which vertebrae to study:

Same here...we have lots of reading to do before we even touch the muscle or skeletal system. I love the book that we are using, though, because everything is organized. My teacher is FLYING through this stuff. We just completed our first full week of school. We are almost done lecturing through chapter 3 and we have our first test on chapters one and two next Tuesday. Whew! Thank God this is a topic of interest for me.

Hi,

We don't start until Tuesday, and my prof doesn't even have class info posted on his website yet.

I'm taking A&P I, A&P II and nutrition.

I'm starting my first semester of A&P as well beginning on the 29th of January. Very scared as I am taking a very full load of Statistics, Developmental Psych, Eng 01 and Sociology. I just turned 40 and will hopefully have all my pre-req's done minus Micro!!! Am I crazy???

Specializes in critical care, PACU.

Oooooh thank you EJM

Im so stoked I just memorized the entire axial skeleton including the skull, vertebral column, and bony thorax.

My tip for learning the skeleton is to go to your library and ask if they have boxes of bones for you to borrow. My school does and I use them for hours and memorize the bones so fast. Your practicums are usually based on the bones you would be studying from in the library so utilize it. Its a best kept secret at my school--no one knows because no one wants to compete over using the 5 bone boxes.

I hope your schools have them too. I swear it is soooooooooo easy to memorize the bones with those bone boxes. Time flies,

That is a gnarly schedule. Anatomy is a lot of work like I spend all my waking moments studying. It will be hard with all the work required in those classes. I think you shold drop at least one. Thats just my opinion.

I have taken all of those classes except sociology

and stats is easy but alot of homework

devel psych was very interesting--especially if you have kids

english will be lots of papers you may not be willing to do right now

good luck. I think you can do anything you put your mind too but it will be hard...

I know it is pretty gnarly schedule...I'm not working right now so my goal is to get through..I've pretty much resigned myself to hunkering down! Last semester I took Chem, Math for Medicine, Psych and Eng. 101 and did well so here's hoping for the best!

WOW, I am going to my school's library on Monday to see if they have them. Thank you so much.

Hi all,

I'm taking A&P1 this semester (starts in less than a week, Jan 18th). I'm hoping to get into the nursing program this fall.

Thanks for the heads up on the bones, Hopefully my school library will also have them.

Specializes in none but hope to have one soon.

my first week of a&p was a little irritating! my instructor didn't show up for our first class on tuesday and was 45 mins late on thursday. our lecture is only an hour and 15 mins so we had to use lab time to go over the week's info. we now are expected to play catch up this weekend by reading through the first 3 chapters and doing the first three parts of the lab book!

Oh sheesh. Not a good start for anyone involved. Hopefully things will get back to the way they're supposed to be next week. Keep us informed.

Anyone know what they are dissecting this semester? We will be dissecting a brain, heart, kidney and lungs. :uhoh21: As of yet, we don't know what type of animal/s.

Specializes in Cardiac, Derm, OB.

Alright, got my A&P book in and waiting on Human Growth.

Classes star next week. I have already gone over the first chapter and answered my professor study questions for chap 1 in A&P.

Everyone ready? lol....it seems like forever....
