Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Who all is taking A&P 2 ? Is there going to be a club?

I heard someone say they had to trace a drop of blood through the heart, lungs and the rest of the circulatory system. So far, I havent heard whether we will have to know that before nursing school, but I know we will have to then.

This is going to be much more detailed learning than A&P 1. I know now what everyone means when they say A&P 2 is more critical thinking. I sure wish I had my A&P 1 instructor. :chair: I think finding a study group will be essential to the success of this class.

Good luck with finding a good study group....I am not counting on it, it's always the same, people have 1 million excuses why they can't study...at least that's how it has been since I started taking pre-requisites at my school and I have pretty much given up asking others. I am doing just fine on my own. You are right about it being very detailed. My A&P 1 class was pretty much like it, too. Our prof needed us to know everything in detail so I am very well "conditioned" to study in detail. I already like my A&P2 teacher much better since he is so organized and gives us GREAT notes, just like my micro teacher did. Well, the first test will determine whether he is as good as everyone says he is. We will do fine....just study study and study some more. Read your notes every day :wink2:

I need a good site that shows the blood flow via the heart, nothing complex just a simple instruction site, is there such a thing to where I can "see" it. Thanks.

I will check with someone and see if she has one. That would be interesting and helpful.

I am new here and taking AP II this semester as well as developmental psych and nutrition. I took AP I spring semester and it was kind of a joke. Our class was just straight memorizing and labeling pictures and the labs were pretty much look at a prepared slide, draw pictures of what you see and answer a few questions.

I wish I had dissections like some of you, at least you learn something that way. It was so frustrating taking AP I that I am doing II online. We still have to go in 4 saturdays for the lab component/exams but atleast it won't be every week like before. I really hope it gets better!

I'm looking forward to getting to know people! I'm hoping to apply to nursing schools in seattle for fall 07. I have micro left to take.

I know what you mean about disecting. I really dreaded it because I was thinking it would make me sick to do that, but it wasnt bad. I did learn a lot and I found I learned better by the hands on. Same with the bones. It is just different when you can see where everything actually is. Maybe I will find that inserting i.v.s and drawing blood isnt as bad as I am thinking either.

I had a really crappy professor for a&p1, we didn't do anything cool in lab and it was just like yours...labeling and memorizing. But now in a&p2 it's a whole different story....I have a much better teacher and our lab yesterday was AWESOME...we took our own blood, prepared slides, read our hemoglobin and figured our hematocrit etc. He is so dedicated to us and assisted us with everything. I can't wait t'ill next lab to view my own blood and find out what kind of WBC are cruising in my body. Even though the material is difficult I am having FUN!!!!! Welcome, Good luck , hang in and remember: DO YOUR BEST:wink2:

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

My A&P I class wasn't easy and A&P II is already looking hard! They seem VERY tough! But, in all honesty, I'd rather have them hard because most programs don't contain any other anatomy classes. If I don't learn it now, I won't know it! And that's scary when we get out into the real world...

I have my first test on Monday. It will be over the endocrine system. It'll be interesting to see how I can do!

Good luck on your first test. We studied the endocine systen in A&P1. It was pretty challenging. Your instructor must be moving really fast. We havent even finished the first chapter. I think we will all be stressed at the end.

Hello All,

I'll join the A&P II club! I really enjoyed A&P I, but I studied a lot. I'm

also taking a College Algebra class. I hope to take the NLN Entrance Exam

early next year; I'm hoping the Math will help with that. Anybody from NH

take the test that can give me any feedback?? Thanks!
