A&P II: The Summer '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Decided to go ahead and create a new thread...

I am taking A & P II at Valencia Community College in Orlando FL. We start May 12th...

I am an Online ASN Student at Deaconess College of Nursing in St Louis. I have taken a leave of absense for the summer so I will only be focusing on A & P. Guess I am not really a pre-nursing student, hope no one minds.

I am looking forward to sharing experiences!

BoonersMom, think about doing your research over Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD).

You'd be surprised the amount of people who are affected by it.

"PKD is the most common inherited disease in the United States. Children of parents with PKD have a 50% chance of getting the disease"

Just a thought.....I'm sure we all will encounter patients with this at one point in our future careers.

Speaking of wanting to be done( and yet not done because I love A+P!)

I have to pick a topic for a case study. In A+PI I did Keratosis Pilaris ( Integumentary) and now I have to pick one for Cardiovascular/Digestive/Blood/Immune/Lymphatic/Respiratory/Urinary/Reproductive. Literally like millions of choices and I uhhhhhh..can't seem to pick one to save my life. I have to turn in my slip tomorrow saying what it will be on...it's due the 26th. Everytime I pick something I go " noooo not that". ha ha ha. I picked KP for A+PI becasue my son has it....I have gone from leukemia to endometrosis to mitral valve prolapse....I swear I will probably literally scribble something down IN lab tomorrow before he calls my name. Why am I having such a problem with this.???? ha ha...

What about hypertension?

I've lost my motivation. All I have left is the last lab practical (that I can take anytime online until next Wednesday) and the lecture final (which I can take either Sat, Monday or Tuesday). I only need a 79 on my lecture final to get an A in the class, so I don't feel any pressure to study. However, I'm sure I can't remember the entire class content cold and this is a cumulative test so I will need to study. Similar situation in lab. BUT I DON"T FEEL LIKE STUDYING, DAMN IT!

I took the kids clothes shopping today and have similar plans tomorrow. I'm procrastinating! :p

Just curious as to what the division is in the A&P I & II situation....

My school breaks it into A&PI and A&PII. A&PI we learned bones, muscles, tissues, integumetary system, endocrine system, basic cell biology, CNS PNS SNS and the whole spical cord deal. And Im missing a few but that sums it up. So far in A&PII weve covered blood, heart, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, digetion, and metabolism. We got about 6 classes left before we finsih (not counting 2 test days) so Im not sure what else we cover. But we do anatomy & physiology of each system at the same time.

I have a test tonight and have just not been able to motivate myself to stay focused for more than 30 minutes to study. I am down to my last two weeks of class...1 more exam, 1 more practical, and the final...I am soooo ready to be done and move on...

If you only knew how much I agree with you I cant wait to be done :biere:

:crying2: I'm so jealous of everyone getting ready to finish A&PII, I almost wish I"d taken the 5wk condensed course just to get it over with!! I've been studying for four days straight for a midterm I have tomorrow, and I still feel totally unprepared. Our midterm is on endo, vessels, cardiac, immune system and respiratory, and we need to know every little detail!! I'm totally panicking 'cause it seems like nothing I"m reading is absorbing. I'm taking this class online so I don't really have the added benefit of hearing a lecture, it's all up to me to know what I need to know. I started May 16, two days after A&PI ended, and don't finish until Sep 3!! I just want it to be done... :crying2:

May God or whatever higher being you believe in bless your heart! I could not imagine more than 10 weeks of A&PI and A&PII combined! Let alone 3 months of just one! Good luck on your midterm.

If your using the Marieb book, Id suggest using the Cd in the back of the book (back inside cover). I think its helped me (or at least I hope it does I just took it out last nite :chuckle ); I know understand the respiratory system so thats an accomplishment!

Again good luck!! :p

Thanks for your well wishes. It just seems like nothing's making sense anymore, I keep rereading the same material and nothing is sinking in. I think I"ll give that cd a try, yes I have the Marieb book. I remember it helped me a lot last semester, figuring out how muscles worked. Thanks for the suggestion.

I agree with using the CD...I can't STAND reading the MarieB text. I do it- but I groan my way through it..

There's a CD in the book? Guess I better open mine I bought last November. LOL J/K

I think the CD helped a little, but personally I just had to read my notes, read my notes, and read them all again.

(And still didn't think I knew it!) lol Good luck to you all! :)
