Pre-Nursing Student

Hi, Good Morning to everyone. This is my first time doing this. I have always wanted to join a group where I feel that there are other women out there who need to communicate with people who are always willing to give a helping hand. I just m,oved out Miami, Fl coming from NYC and working on my third degree. My first one is on Health in an Asssociates degree and the other I just recieved 2 months ago which is a BA in Health Administration, with two yrs of Biology. I have applied to Miami dade College because I am trying to pursue another Associates degree in NUrsing (RN). It has been very stressful for me because I am not from here so the process is kind of slow. Is there anyone that can let me know of any accelerated program in miami, or if anyone completed or is in the process of getting in. I am planning not to work so that I can concentrate on my studies. Feel free to scoop me up with any info that I can apply to my career! Nice meeting all of you, and hoping to hear from you all soon!

Sorry I'm not in Miaimi, I'm in Orlando. The University of Central Florida has an accelerated nursing program for people holding a non-nursing Bachelor's degree. I'm sure if you check out the University of Miami or Barry University they have the same programs. I'm pretty sure Barry does.

Hope this helps.

Good luck to you! Check at the universities down there that have a BSN program, usually they also have an accellerated aspect as well. There's one in Tampa as well, so surely Miami has some. Good luck to you!!

Hello there,

I also moved down to Miami from NYC (in 2001). I got accepted to Barry University's Accelerated Program that starts Jan of 2007. I'm super excited yet a little nervous. It is MUCH more expensive the Miami Dade College. I tried applying a couple of times to Miami Dade, but got rejected each time. My GPA is only a 3.34. My suggestion to you is to apply to Miami Dade, Barry University and University of Miami also has an acclerated nursing program that starts every May. I'm pretty sure you'd have a good chance of getting into the bigger schools rather than MDC. Almost everyone on the planet is applying to MDC, so they are much pickier than the other schools. Plus, those schools don't just look at GPA's. With your background, you'd be perfect. So, go online and check out each school. Best of luck to you! And, if you need anything else, feel free to email me.
