Pre Licensure WGU Southern California

Published

Hi,

After reading many posts I started looking into WGU. So far I like what I see but today when I called admissions I got a little discouraged. Anyone who is enrolled in BSN Pre Licensure in Southern California please respond. I am a LVN who lives in Southern California. What the rep told me today was that if I wasn't at least 50 miles near the clinical site then I might have trouble getting accepted into the school. The girl who handles this is out for the week so I am yet to sign up till I hear from her. Also for those who are enrolled what is the clinical schedule look like, hours, and where are the clinical sites.

Thanks!

Hi, I learned about WGU from this website. I started looking into it and I was confused with the whole 50 miles from the clinical sites. I live South of San Diego and was hoping that there are clinicals available at Kaiser Permanente. The other hospitals WGU has contracts with are mainly located in the LA area or northern California. I emailed an enrollement advisor but still waiting on a response.

HI

if you are in the Los Angeles area the clinical sites are Huntington Hospital in Pasadena and Cedar Sinai Hospital in West Hollywood. I believe there are 2 other locations in Orange County. It is extremely competitive program in CA. They only accept 10 per clinical cohort.

I don't think they have anything in San Diego, it seems to always be the"forgotten" city South of Los Angeles. .. South of San Diego is Mexico, too far away for this program it seems. Good luck to you, I hope you find a program close to you!

Kaiser Permanente is a founding partner not a clinical partner. I asked that question because I was looking to possibly move to Sacramento and there are a few Kaisers out there. Kaiser does not offer clinicals. Only Cedar Sinai or Huntington Memorial in LA.

Does anyone know of the 30 unit option at WGU?

Can't accelerate the prelicensure program much since it's blocked out according to clinical schedules. Sure, you can finish all the classes early and either have a break at the end of the term or start the next terms classes maybe a few weeks early but unlike their other programs, there's no possibility of accelerating to only a term or two. 2.5 years is 2.5 years for the prelicensure program.

Do you know if the prepress expire?

Do you know if the prepress expire?

I believe they do after 5 years like most schools. Just depends though

For WGU specifically, they will not usually accept any hard science after 5 yrs of age.

That is what happened to me.

For most CC / ADN programs Anatomy must be less than 10 yrs old, and Physic/Micro must be less than 7 yrs old.

Good luck to you!

DARN! I think mine are seven years old. I really don't want to have to take them all over again. Anyway, thanks for informing me. I could not find it mentioned on the website.

Much appreciated!

No worries - I had a very difficult time initially find all the info as well - So glad to help anyone just jumping in! :) Best of luck - Retaking classes is a total pain in the butt, but well worth it if you're able to improve your scores while you're at it!
