i was just offered a position in an urgent care office and my post offer physical is scheduled for thursday. I've worked as an MA for years and the most I've ever had was a drug screen/immunization review. This sounds a little more intense, though not as much as i've heard others being.
The email I received stated that it would contain a biometric screening, vitals, full physical exam, visual acuity, drug test, and immunization review.
My eye sight has always been great, my immunizations are very, very up to date (just finished nursing school haha) and i had a physical in august before completing my last semester of nursing school that cleared me totally.
so these are my fears- i am very overweight. Obviously the HR director i met with as well as the office manager i interviewed with are aware My vitals have always been fine as well, but at my last ob/gyn appt (last week) my bp was 140/80... unusual for me but the last time i was at that office the year before i had a major scare and needed surgery so i was definitely anxious.
ANYWAY, i'm just nervous that they're going to find something to use against me. how nervous should i be? I've already given my notice because they wanted me to start two weeks from the the date of the offer... i got a phone call offering me the job, accepted, and got an email with the official details, only to find a page saying that I had to have this done as well. now im nervous i jumped the gun!
thoughts?? thanks!

The biometric screening , may or may not be the deal breaker. A few MAJOR employers will not hire based on BMI as a risk factor for future health care costs to the employer.
Never quit a job unless you have the offer for the new job in writing..signed, sealed and delivered.

The most intense work-related physical I've had involved walking up and down a small staircase for a set amount of time, griping some sort of device that measured grip strength, carrying a semi-heavy box around a room, pulling a semi-heavy device back and then pushing it forth, labs (blood and urine), vitals, vision screening, etc. I was pretty nervous about it because it was much more intense than anything I've experienced before, but I have no medical issues and cleared everything fine. I'm not sure what might disqualify someone, but wow...

In my jobs, physicals have consisted of bending over, picking up a box, and maybe lifting my arms over my head. Most of the time it's just reviewing the job description and attesting that I can physically perform the job. As long as you can reasonably perform basic tasks, you will be fine.
Just updating this in case anyone is looking for advice and sees this...
they didn't even weigh me. they asked me for my height and weight but didn't take them (i WAS honest) No vitals at all. The whole thing consisted of a urine drug test (which came back fine, despite me realizing after that I had had an everything bagel with poppyseeds and i was panicked about THAT haha) a color blindness test, and a review of my immunizations. She asked me for my height and my weight, and asked if I had any medical conditions that would affect my ability to perform the job. that was it. I got my clearance a couple days later and start the job on Tuesday! :)
