I was reading a memo from PRC from my school that stated that Octoberian graduates of nursing cannot take the November 2008 exams. So is it true then that Octoberians are not allowed to take the board till next year then, since the last time I read, Octoberian graduates can take the exams just as long as they can satisfy the requirements. With this new memo, PRC stated that March graduates cannot take the local board by June, and October graduates cannot take the local board by November or December.
I hope someone can shed light on this, thanks.

As far as I know there is no memo regarding your concern. Better check the link I provided. It's the BON website.

i think its would be wise and practical if your graduating for october and youll take november exam. the timeline is so short. think of the school records, your dilpoma, hospital requirments and documentation that youll submit to the PRC. and your review time so why in a hurry?
actually we have been reviewing since June of this yr from our course audit. I am in a hurry since the information that I retained right now from our reviews are still intact, unlike by June all the knowledge stored in my mind would be gone, at least I want to try taking it by November to see if I can pass..as most of my friends who took it before graduated in October and took the December exams and passed...

The BON just adjusted the deadlines for filing applications. But they still allow the October graduates to take the November NLE provided they are able to accomplish all the requirements before the deadline.

the issue here is, the PRC has deadline, its up to the aplicant, the school and the requirments are completed before the deadline. you have to compelte the cases. and there sno problem as long as you submitted it before the deadline.
thanks for all those who have posted.
Based on the Memo, the date was Nov 2007. I was able to search for another new memo dated January 2008 which superceded the old memo.
Apparently our school is not permitting us to take the November exams because according to them we might be questioned with CHED as we graduated October, but now I think it is because they cannot rush the transcripts on time, hence the memo.

Schools can make up reasons behind not allowing you to take the exam. According to the memo, you are allowed to take the exam only if you have all the requirements ready on hand on or before the deadline of application. You can always exert your right if you want to take the exam on November. You might want to talk to your registrar concerning your desire to take the exam hence they are responsible of preparing your transcript of records and diploma.

Just like what dave keeps saying. There is really is no reason to do things haphazardly both on the student's side and on the school's side and another 6 mos.or so of wait should not affect anything.
The school will also prefer that their students be able to review well for the exam as they have a vested interest on school ratings. As far as the school is concern, it would be better for them to delay it for their student's own good and the registrar's office do not need to do things in a hurry as well.
Less than 50% passes the exam, even if the student had a full 2-3 mos. of review that was common the last few years for those who graduates on the usual / traditional graduating dates.
Many people also underestimates the NLE. Anecdotally, it is harder to study and pass the NLE than the NCLEX. Many also anecdotallly finds passing the CGFNS exam harder than both the NCLEX and the NLE.
I know many MD-RNs that can't pass the CGFNS exam but readily can pass the NCLEX and the NLE. All 3 exams are also quite diff. from each other.
Just my humble opinion.

i think it's really the schools who are imposing whether or not their students are taking the nle. a similar case happened to us last semester. students who knew people from the inside were able to get their documents on time and some of us are taking it next month. it's a good thing i really wasn't planning on taking it last time or i would have been ******.
