posting resume online

Does anyone have experience posting their resume online? Where are the best places to list your resume as a nurse?

Thanks!

Try Monster. I got calls from all over the US after I posted there. Good Luck to you...hope you find the job you want!!

Specializes in Oncology/Haemetology/HIV.

I would be hesitant to do so.

First, it is hazardous to put that much info out there on a public BB.

Second, there is no reason to, as there are quite a few jobs out there.

Third, good/great facilities have no need to go to public BB, however desperate facilities do.

Fourth, good/great HR departments prefer a resume, with a decent cover letter that indicates that you have some knowledge of the facility. A BB resume says "come and get me" not "I am really interested in you and your organization".

You can get many jobs on Monster.com, but you will sift through some serious dreck and spam, much like singles bars and personal ads. If you do a minor amount of work, you can get much better and appropriate respondents.

Specializes in Geriatrics.

I also posted on Monster and wish I wouldn't have! I had agencies from all over calling me and wanting me to travel up to 3 hours away from my home for a job. I don't think so!! I found a great job in my own!!

Specializes in Education, Acute, Med/Surg, Tele, etc.

Yep...I did too with monster and a local newspaper's job site...that was over 3 years ago and I am still getting calls by agencies that don't even know what state or location I am in asking if I want to sign up! Even when I do tell them to take me off their call list..they still call!

And E-mails galore!!!!!! Oh man that started a nice heavy flow of spam! Someone realized I was in medicine and every Rx known to mankind is being advertized via spam directly to my computer (and general nursing things too). UHGGGGGG~! Wished I hadn't done that!

Did I get a job based on it...NO! So it wasn't worth my agony in still dealing with the calls and spam!

After holding out for a long time, I put my resume on Monster for about a week. I got a lot of interest at first. And to be honest, when I was feeling like no one would ever be interested in my qualifications, it made me feel good to think someone was paying attention. But most of it wasn't really worthwhile. I am still getting those agency e-mails and phone calls, too, wanting me to take travel assignments, even though it's clear from my resume that I haven't been at the bedside in five years and therefore wouldn't qualify for a travel position.

Also got a lot of headhunters. Pretty sad, I thought, that all these employers are willing to spend thousands of dollars on corporate recruiters rather than on their nurses.

I turned off my resume last week, but I'm still getting some residual. Ironically, the two job offers I have gotten were positions I found on my own.

Don't put your license # or any personal information in your resume.

Specializes in ICU, CCU, Trauma, neuro, Geriatrics.

I placed my resume online with a local hospital system, two of the facilities called me. I chose the one I am currently working in. It took about 3 weeks to receive the interest phone calls. I returned the calls, one facility was liver transplants and the other was ICU or telemetry. I wasn't interested in a transplant unit at this time so I opted for the telemetry position. Many facilities now have online recruiting, I was able to look through each ones website and decide if I wanted to look further.
