Yale GEPN Applicants 2013

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello all! I noticed a thread had not been started for those of us applying for Fall of 2013 so I thought I would start one. How are things going for everything regarding the application process?

All they really said was that for the second two years of our program, we are all mixed together.

Have accepted students received their financial aid/scholarship info? What is the total cost of attendance looking like? I'm interested in applying for 2014 (psych specialty) but am very anxious about the prospect of 6-figure loans.

Also, even though pre-reqs are not technically required, are they still basically expected? Did any accepted students NOT have the traditional pre-reqs done (A&P, micro, etc.)?

I know this is an old post but hopefully you still come to this forum -- could you please post your stats? And your volunteer experience? I will also be applying to psych NP programs. I am mainly worried about my volunteer experience. I did two years in a mental health center for cognitively disabled individuals working under a clinical psychologist, and also two years as a lab manager in a clinical psych research lab (ran many clinical assessments). I am not sure if my volunteer experience is enough for psych NP programs. Should I go volunteer in a hospital or do something else? I plan on applying fall of 2013.

Thank you

It sounds like we have very similar backgrounds, I have a few years of various volunteer experiences in mental health and by the time I apply I will have more than a year's experience working in psychiatric research. Hopefully this + good academic records is enough!?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding RN's who apply to the MSN portion at Yale this upcoming Fall, as opposed to the GEPN program. Does anyone have any stats as far as how many apply and get accepted, specifically for FNP? Type of scores, GRE's, and experience? A lot of the information on here seems to be geared towards the GEPN's, which is great, but I wonder if its applicable to RN's applying to the program. Any information anyone may have is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

SaintlyJ - I've applied to the RN to MSN FNP program as well. Anxiously awaiting the news! It's been good to read over this forum and see the GEPNs who were just in the stressful position I am now! Have you had your interview? How did it all go? Good luck to you!!

Hello you all,

I am also an RN waiting for a decision for the Psych NP program, Has anyone heard anything or been interviewed?

I think I told someone in here I'd post when financial aid packets came out. Just got mine.

So I have read through this entire thread and congratulations to all of you accepted in GEPN 2013!!!!!!!!!! I was even getting nervous reading about the anticipation :) For those who have been accepted, what did your volunteer/healthcare experience look like?

I totally agree with who made the earlier comment about YSN looking for people who are more service-minded. That's definitely why I want to go there. I would really appreciate the insight. Congratulations again :D
