University of South Alabama Nurse Practitioner Summer 2013 Admission

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Bear with me as I'm new to allnurses.com. I applied for the Summer 2013 admission to USA's MSN - FNP program. I'm anxiously awaiting an admission decision. Has anyone else heard anything yet?

I'm not overly confident that I'll get in. Here are my stats: 3.53 overall GPA (higher for just nursing courses), 1.5 years of LPN experience on CCU, 5 years experience as RN (CICU, Ambulatory Care, Management), board certs in Med-Surg and Ambulatory care, and currently serving as an Active Duty RN in the military.

I wonder if the person you spoke to on the phone was accurate about letters being sent out around Oct. 1. I hope not, that would be 8+ weeks until they were sent. I guess it doesn't matter though, same results. I am just eager to know one way or the other. Did you find your email of confirmation FA2NS?

Specializes in Orthopedics.

No email. I am like you. I am just ready to hear something. I am hoping that USA would have sent me an email to alert me that my file was incomplete. You would think if they saw an application from Nursing CAS they would alert those whose files were incomplete. I don't know...

I was told the letters will be released October, too. At least that is consistent.=s I hope we don't have trouble getting hold of somebody when we finally get accepted. I agree that it was an expensive application and the expenses does not end there. Going back to school ain't cheap. Good luck to all of us! 1 more week of waiting to go.=)

After 3 email attempts at a response to the question whether or not my application was complete, I received an email stating they did in fact email me back in July and my application is complete. They suggested I search my spam folders. No email...hmmmm...oh well at least I know they got everything.

Looks like GregNP received a letter of acceptance today, saw it on another thread. That means more letters in the coming days....

Just got my letter of acceptance TODAY for the acute care track. That took forever!

Specializes in hospice, HH, LTC, ER,OR.
I'm going to answer my own question....I got my acceptance letter today!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to you? One question. DO you know if you have to find your own preceptor ?

Yes you must find your own preceptor and know this as I said in another posting: Stay away from USA in Mobile, AL graduate or DNP track. You will be disappointed. You are not taught but expected to learn on your own. Instructors send out nasty emails, give out unclear syllabi, then degrade students when they ask questions to clarify details you will be graded on. You are not even told what you have missed on exams but are expected to know the answers when it shows up again. Do yourself a service and choose Frontier Nursing University if a Family NP student, Women's Health or Midwife student or another school but not USA.

Hello there, I am following this topic because I am hoping to get in for Fall 2014 NP Women's Health Care NP. Looking at other's qualifications I don't see how I have a chance. GPA like 3.2, much higher for nursing but they want ALL the stuff you have EVER taken and they make it one GPA. It took me hours and hours to get everything into NursingCAS. I am waiting to hear if they got my applications, have emailed several times, no response. Basically, I am looking for the cheapest, fastest, easiest way to get an NP. I already have my own Botox injections practice, and will be doing the exact same thing. Exactly.

If there are any suggestions as to how an RN who has not been on the floor in years can get into NP school, I am all ears. If anyone has been accepted to the Fall 2014 session, please post. Thanks to all! Have a great day.

Hi, I appreciate the advice. I wish I could take it, I really respect Frontier. They require 2 letters from supervisors and I have not worked on the floor in years. I am a cosmetic injectable nurse, and am looking forward to WHNP. But I have no recent supervisors as I am employed by one doctor. They want 2 supervisors who are NP's. :(

I also applied for spring 2014. Good luck to both of us.

I just sign up with allnurses and read posts, i am think of applying. At USA for the summer 2015, How is it?
