DNP while not employed

  1. Hello,

Has anyone pursued their DNP while on a leave or between jobs? I will have no trouble with a clinical site. That is already lined up with my former employer. I had hoped to go back to a position I had held for several years, but it is not certain due to a budgetary hold. In the meantime, I have now two seriously ill family members who I am helping. I am thinking of starting the online classes and am about 1.5 years from starting the clinical portion. In that time, I know a lot can happen. I am mid fifties and want to stay engaged with nursing. This is a post-MSN DNP for the CNS role. I cannot picture myself as anything other than a nurse, but currently I am functioning as a family caregiver with CNA type responsibilities. I do have a lot of downtime when the folks are sleeping.
