Accepted Accelerated Johns Hopkins Students

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Is anyone else is intending or considering Hopkins for the 13.5 month program staring in June 2006?

Hi there JHU students-to-be!! Congratulations to peachy, mvd, and the rest of you! thought I stop by to say "hi" and wish all of you the best of luck. I'll be attending Columbia starting at the end of May, and really we're all future RNs of Class 2006 and NPs, CNMs, etc! Again congratulations on your hard work thus far, and good luck in future endeavors! :roll

Thanks for the congrats nycacoustic and peachy! I was so stressed about the decision, but now that I've decided I am able to relax more and just get excited about getting started. What a tough choice though! Peachy- I'm going into the accelerated program... heard its going to be pretty hectic to say the least. I'll be sure to sign up in the yahoo group - great idea. These forums have really helped throughout this whole decision process and will be great for information leading into the program. Good luck everyone :)

Thanks for the happy thoughts, nycacoustic! Are you going to the Meet-n-Greet on the 7th? You have to tell us all about it!!

mvd, I'm just so glad you're de-stressed. Man, I sometimes think the admissions program is more stressful than actual school, but that's just wishful thinking on my part!! :clown:

This thread has been so quiet, guys!! So besides mvd and me, who else is going to Accepted Students Day? We'll have to figure out a way to recognize each other!! (edit: are you guys going for 8:30 or 9:30 am? In all the emails, it says 9:30, but the home page says 8:30...now, it's VERY easy to confuse me! :D)

Is anyone else getting REALLY panicked about financial aid? I already ranted on the Merit Scholarship thing, but I don't know what to do about private loans because 1. i haven't been working full-time since i've been finishing my first degree 2. there's no one to ask for a co-signer. I haven't been able to think of anything else.

Did you guys get the email this morning? Our packets are going out this week!!

Come on guys, let's hear from the Blue Jays!!

Hello Peachy720 and congratulations to you and everyone else!

Yes I am panicked about the lack of financial aid info. I called the office and all they could say is that we will recieve our packets in March. I am also worried that I will not qualify for private loans... I can't believe that these schools expect decisions to be made without knowing the financials... I applied for a merit scholarship but am not holding my breath on that one. I expect there are many fantastic candidates for that one. I will definitely join the yahoo group, thanks for setting it up. I will miss the new student day in March, but expect to go out in early May to get an apartment then move out the third week of May. I will be driving from California. See you all soon!

Roland

Hi Roland!!

Congratulations to you!! :balloons: :biggringi

I'm sorry to hear you won't be going up this week. If it helps, I'll write a novel when I get back with everything I find out..hopefully, lots on financial aid!

For those of you who joined the Yahoo group, check out the links section. I added everything I had been saving up this last year. There are some good links for housing (althugh there are some great ones on the JHU accepted students page as well) and transportation.

We're doing it guys! Dreams come true!!

Hey guys!

I posted this in the Accepted Students forum on the JHUSON website, but I was seeing if anyone was up for dinner or anything else Friday night?:D

Okay guys,

I might check online tomorrow morning before I leave for the airport, but probably won't get to be on the computer until I get back from B'more Saturday...

..then again, I might get such computer withdrawals that I go spend $5 per 15 minutes computer time at the hotel... ;)

Anyways, come say hi if you can Friday!! I'll be the shorty in heels, brown shirt and brown and blue skirt! Can't wait to meet those of you coming!! :Melody:

Where is everyone? Just found out last week I was accepted into Hopkins traditional direct-entry BSN to MSN(FNP)/MPH program... whew, that's a lot of accronyms! Got a suprise call from Mary at work, months after I'd written off the possibility, so I was completely shocked- a pleasant shock, but still completely unexpected :) Now I'm so excited to get started (but still have some prereqs to get out of the way this summer).

Anyway, would love to hear from other students starting at JHU this fall- definitely curious about moving, Baltimore neighborhoods, all that good stuff. Hope to see more people around!

Hi everyone. I am in the accelerated program right now and graduate in July and I have a few of the required books to sell:

maternity, Abnormal psych, research, a pharm study guide (VERY HELPFUL)research study guide(AlSO VERY HELPFUL) calculate with confidence---- all current editions

pathophys book , toward healthy aging, peds book, (all previous edition- I did very well in these courses without the brand new book)

as well as some of the uniform items:

1 pairs of pants (size small),

1 short sleeve shirt (M),

one longs sleeve shirt(M)

and one lab coat.(S, but generous sizing) If you are interested, contact me privately. I bought almost all of my books second hand and it really did help out, financially. Also, I did not find that having the new edition made a difference. I did very well in these courses with the old ones.I only wish I hadn't bought the uniforms brand new!

I am willing to sell the whole deal for $350 which is a huge bargain if you have actually priced out any of these books.
