Possibly starting CNA courses

Published

So my overall goal is to become a neonatal nurse. I talked to a friend's mom who is a CNA and advised me to take CNA courses to 'get my feet wet' and I know there's a test afterward of course. She told me to do this before actually going to school. Then I want to go to a state Uni to become a neonatal nurse.

What I want to know is how long do I wait after I [hopefully] pass the test and become certified to go to school? Do I have to work as a CNA for a year before I can go to school?

No. It even depends on the program as to whether you HAVE to get your CNA. Your friend's mom has good advice. It would be beneficial to get your CNA and work in healthcare before jumping into that life. Look into programs and check the requirements.
