Possibly moving to Atlanta

So I'm possibly moving to to the Atlanta area next year. I'm currently a nursing student and I graduate in December so I will be a new grad when I move. I was looking for some advice about the best area to live in and the best area for a new grad to be in. I was also wondering what the nursing market was like down there. Any advice is appreciated! Atlanta itself is extremely crowded with traffic every day so if you don't want to live among a lot of people/traffic woes etc you may want to look outside of the area.

New grads have opportunities here, more so than in the past, residencies, etc. BUT you will need to have your GA license as most require a nurse/new grad already be licensed in the state..the BON here use to be decent but from posts on here more recently it seems it takes a long time to get a license and customer service lacks.

Not sure where you are moving to Ga from but Ga has a state tax (unlike some states) and as of 2016 CEU's are required to maintain licensure. Wages are lower than out West or up North..you can always go to the Ga Dept of Labor site to check things out. Most hospitals no longer hire LPN's and most want BSN RN's..

I'd suggest looking at the crime stats online for any area you are interested in as well as the hospitals in the area..if you plan to rent look at houses versus apts, etc.

you have enough time to research and plan..Also, most interviews are panel and or more than one. It can take months to get a job here so applying early and often is key. Already being local will help as well - especially being a new grad. Nurses are a dime a dozen in Ga.
