The Georgia Board of Regents is proposing to close the Athens, GA campus of the Medical College of Georgia Nursing School due to budget cuts. MCG Athens usually takes 50-75 BSN students and 20-30 MSN-CNL students each year. Given the small number of spots in nursing programs available across the state, closing this campus will only make the process more competitive. Please take a minute to sign the petition to keep this campus open and feel free to pass it along to others.
Myself and many other nursing school aspirants would be grateful.

good evening bsn athens fall 2010 newly admitted students (class of 2012),
we just received an update regarding the proposed budget cuts...and this time it's good news! dr. barry goldstein, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, received notice from dr. erroll davis, chancellor for the board of regents, that we will not eliminate any academic programs, including the athens and columbus campuses, next year.
although we have and will face some difficult decisions regarding the budget, this is a wonderful outcome for our school and most importantly, for our new in-coming students. i am certain that this decision was due, in large part, by unified efforts to educate our elected officials about the importance of our programs and our belief in the nobility of the nursing profession.
thanks also, to many of you who remained the voice of reason and stood firm in your quest to obtain an education from the medical college of georgia. i am pleased that we can end this week on a high note and focus on this next phase of your exciting educational career. your time here will be among the most meaningful experience of your life, and we will be here to support you along the way.
thank you for choosing mcg school of nursing!
Thank you for this information fdlink. I had done a lot of searching and found information regarding the GA Regent's recommendations for closure of the campus, but not this new information. This is a relief to hear as the MCG Athens CNL program is at the top of my list of nursing programs.
