Posgraduate Diploma - Altered Airways

Published

Over a quarter of hospitals managing patients with Tracheostomy say that their staff do not receive training in the management of blocked and displaced tubes. Well, there is an excellent 3 month online course, with 1 day face to face workshops, Certification in the Management of Altered Airway (Tracheostomy & Laryngestomy)” offered by Rila Institute of Health Sciences, gpcourses.co. The course is designed specifically for Healthcare Professionals, including Nurses, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Surgeons (ENT, Max Fax.), Anaesthetists, Intensivists and Community Nurses, who are involved in caring for patients with a Tracheostomy or Laryngectomy.

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

This topic is covered quite well in ACLS.

three MONTHS???????

Three months does seem odd (typo?), but I've never seen ACLS come close to addressing anything more than the most entry level airway management, which this is anything but.

Really- the DOPE acronym and response is all you need until qualified airway managers arrive (RT/ MD/ Medic). Because, as a nurse, what else are you going to do? Nurses don't typically 'manage airways'.
