Hello! I'm Anna, and I'm a second year applicant at PCC. I am starting this thread to communicate to others who are also applying for this year's cycle at PCC, and hopefully getting to know future classmates. Good luck everyone ?

Hi! Have you taken a HRST exam before? I didn't get into PCC but I did get into the second phase for another community college outside of the Portland area. I am just wondering how people are studying for this exam! Thanks!

This is my first time taking it too! I’d recommend studying the basics of critical thinking. There really isn’t any way to study for it unfortunately since it’s all based on personal judgement and reasoning skills ?

Has anyone heard if PCC has sent out final selections for Fall 2022 yet? I haven’t heard anything since the HSRT and don’t really know what to expect. I’m a first time applicant this year.

In the HSRT email they said they should be sending out final selections during the first week of June :-) good luck to you too and hopefully we both get in!

Ugh, that’s so long to wait! Thanks, I must have missed that part. I guess I thought it might be sooner since the HSRT dates were earlier than what they had on the PCC website (or hoping it would be LOL). How did you feel about the HSRT? It was not like any other multiple choice test I’ve ever taken, I kinda hated it.

I know!! It’s sooo hard waiting so long. I really didn’t like it, I wasted a lot of time overthinking simple things because I thought I had more time than I did. I finished the test and I think I did okay, I just would have felt better about it if it wasn’t timed. How did you feel?

I agree, the timed aspect made it hard. I thought I wasn’t wasting time but I ended up not finishing. It was really frustrating. I’m hoping that’s not a deal breaker because I felt pretty good about the rest of it…so we’ll see what happens.

How far in the test did you finish? I felt like if they would have given unlimited time that I would have done much better, but I guess they like to stress us out LOL. At least we have the cover letter/resume/essays to prove ourselves. That's what I'm banking on.

I think I got to 30. It really snuck up on me. With such a tight time for 33 questions, I wonder if getting through it is the test! I would be curious how much they weight that score relative to essays/resume etc. It seems like a pretty arbitrary measure to put too much of the decision into that score. I’m anxious to hear either way!

How do you think the CCC interviews went this year?! I’m bummed to hear they’re only taking 18 students ?

 

Has anyone heard back from PCC? I know MHCC sent out their letters of acceptance 

 

Did anyone apply to Columbia gorge community college?

I just got the notification that I was accepted! Woohoo!! I'm curious to know how many people they accepted this year. Best of luck to everyone:-)
