Hi everyone,
I work as a CNA on a Medical-Surgical floor and as a nurse what drugs do you see most often? I want become knowledgable with the drugs that are most often used, as I will be going to nursing school next Spring.

OK, i'll help-
I am on a cardiac / tele floor, here are ones I think of:
apresoline
amiodarone
hydralazine
most beta blockers (esp. lopressor, labelotol, propanolol, coreg)
nitro
ASA
digoxin
Calcium channel blockers: '-ipine' amlodipine, nicardipine, nifedipine
Diuretics: Lasix, hctz, spirolactone
ACE inhibitors: '-pril' enalapril, lisinopril, captopril, quinipril
Anticoagulants: coumadin Heparin, Integrillin, lovenox, Plavix
Analgesics: morpheine, dilaudid, tramadol
Statins: simvastatin. crestor, zocor, Lipitor
Stool softeners : like MOM, colace, ducolax
Antibiotics: Zosyn, vancomycin, keflex, ancef, rocephin, penicillin, levaquin, flagyl
There are loads more, but this is a start. Get yourself a set of drug cards and start looking at them.
