Hi All,
I just wanted to inform you about the ANCC PMHNP board exam. I took it this past week and passed. The exam questions are clear and concise. They are often a lot shorter than the practice questions seen on BoardVitals and also a lot easier. For studying I used Pocket Prep, Board Vitals and the purple book.
I studied on and off 2-3 hours for about two months and then intensely for two weeks (8 hours daily). BoardVitals poses questions that are a lot harder than the exam but it really trains you to think about various factors and think critically. Pocket Prep mostly resembles the ANCC questions but I found the questions to be a bit too simplistic. I was scoring around 60% on Board Vitals and around 70% on Pocket Prep.
The test is not overtly difficult however you do need to have general knowledge of just about everything that was covered in school. GOOD LUCK!! let me know if you have questions.

Thanks for the info! I am taking the test mid August and pretty much using the same resources plus ANCC IQ questions. I keep scoring low on domains 4 and 5- psychotherapy and legality. Any tips on how to improve those scores or resources that you may have found useful? Did you get a lot of questions on scales like GAD, PHQ-9 etc. Thanks again!

@FCO Just curious.....are you a FNP who pursued a post-grad certificate or a direct PMHNP?

@FCO thank you for the recommendations. I tried to find resources that you refer to as BoardVitals and PocketPrep and I could not find them. Would you mind adding links? Thank you!
