Plus Size scrub advice

Published

Hello! I start my clinicals on the 23rd. I ordered scrubs off amazon.com because they had sets with free shipping. Like everyone else, I am on a budget, but am plus size which makes a problem when buying clothes at reasonable prices. I ordered 3x, the largest size they came in, because I assumed they would fit since I wear 26 pants and extra large shirts. However, the material did not stretch and they did not fit whatsoever. Now I am returning them and need to search somewhere else.

I ordered a top off Tafford.com because I thought it was cute, but I ordered it in 3x as well so I'm hoping it fits. It has not arrived yet.

Is there ANYPLACE I can order scrubs that are 4x or 5x at a reasonable price? The only uniform store we had here was The Scrub Hut but they closed down. Our walmart only goes up to 2x and they are too tight across the chest and hips. I even tried the dollar store, and had the same problem.

I would prefer female scrubs as opposed to unisex because they seem to have too much crotch and I want to look as professional..and feminine as possible.

Also, if there is a specific style that anyone suggests, that would be highly appreciated. I am doing my clinicals in a physicians office, so I can wear any colors/prints.

Thank you so much!

Thanks you guys. I just ordered an outfit from the W line off bestof... I have a shirt coming from Tafford in 3x as well so I'll wait and see. I hate living in a small town because I have to waste so much money on returns to try things out.

Thanks for the help!

Just an FYI to all plus sized scrub buyers out there -- I usually like Cherokee uniforms, but definitely stay away from the "Flexibles" line of pants! They really do not work for plus sized women and you will be pulling your pants up all day and praying that they don't fall off during a code -- but they will feel too tight in the butt -- it's very strange.

Marcus is a great place to order. They carry many brands in larger sizes, and the prices are reasonable. Most of my scrubs come from them.

Well, I got my order from bestofscrubs. They were too large as well. I have been waiting since Thursday for them to send me an authoriziation email for return. I took this as a sign and made the effort and drove all the way to Gainesville yesterday. I found a shop called Florida Uniforms. They are having a 20% off everything sale going on till Thanksgiving so I ended up with 3 printed tops and 3 pants for $51. 2 are Dickies W brand, and the other is Cherokee.

I wanted some of the flexible shirts, but they only had them in 5x at the time, so I will be patient and wait a few weeks for them to get a shipment in. It was so nice being able to try on the clothes and see how they look in real life instead of online. Many of the scrubs look and feel different than they appear in pictures. I couldn't believe how ruff and stiff some brands/material is. Not comfy at all.

I did find some pants that were very silky, but when I put them on, they looked like PJ's on me, so I opted out of them. But they were very comfortable and were pretty on the hanger. I'm just too short and wide to pull off shinny scrubs. LOL

I ordered a bunch of Cherokee Flexibles when I started my new job and I have the same complaint. I wear an XL and I admit I have extra junk in my trunk and I'm embarrassed to say that I literally split my britches in 2 pairs in less than an month that I've had them. I had my mom (a seamstress) restitch the butt; however I fear it will happen again while I get in and out of my Jeep. I also dislike the extremely wide leg pant, makes me look like I have tree trunks for legs! I love the soft material at the top and the tops are very slimming and movable. Too bad the pants suck!

You can try http://www.scrubshopper.com/ they carry up to 5X in Landau.

Good Luck! :)
