PLU BSN to DNP Summer 2021 Start

Hi, I don't see a thread about Pacific Lutheran University and their DNP program yet ~ so, here we are! Currently, their first priority deadline of December 1 just passed. The next deadline is January 15, 2021. Both are for a June (Summer) 2021 start. 
I've got my app in and am wondering who else have applied? I'm also wondering:

How many people get accepted?

When/how are folks notified?

Any current/past students that could offer up any info on the process or program itself?

I just got an email requesting an interview! I’m so happy to continue through the process! Anyone else? Any advice on how to prepare or what to expect?

Update: did the interview January 2. Was notified a week later that there’d be proctored written essay prompt on 15th. Today is MLK day (18th). Fingers crossed good news comes soon!

Hey Chilli! I have an interview this Friday for the PMHNP DNP program. Kinda nervous. How was it?

Raven ~ congratulations on getting an interview! It is my understanding that you crossed one of the hurdles not everyone gets a chance to do.

I was so nervous too! I tried to prepare the best I could. Ultimately, it was just like a job interview that starts off with “Tell me about yourself” then got into more situational/behavioral questions. The time flew by very very quickly. 
 

I look forward to hearing about your progression! IF...IF we both get in, our classes overlap ?

I recently applied to the PMHNP Grad program and have an interview coming up. I didn't know there was also a written proctored essay!? Let me know how that goes. I have already been accepted into another program but like PLU as well. It's good to have more than one option.

Hi Nikki,

That’s awesome that you’ve been selected elsewhere ~ congrats on that! 
 

Let me clarify ~ there was a written proctored essay for the DNP FNP. I’m not 100% that that’d be the case for PMHNP. It seemed like a new thing they were doing anyways.

You are correct for the PMHNP program I don’t have to do a proctored essay, it’s only for FNP.

Were you in the group interview with ------------------------ Friday? If so I may have seen you. ?

 

Ugh it was fine but I'm glad it's over. Haha. 

 

For those that stumble upon this in the future wanting to know what to expect, I'll just give a recap. There was a zoom meeting where we were given an overview of the PMHNP program and its structure and a description of the courses. 

Later we had an hour long individual interview over zoom that was kind of like a job interview. Why we chose to pursue DNP, PLU, any idea of our project, difficult situations in our career and how we handled them, etc.
