Please check the sticky at the top of the International Forum for information dealing specifically with working in the US.
Please place all questions related to working in the US under the International Forum, as they usually relate to other nurses as well.
Any questions that need to be addressed by me, there is now a sticky in that forum as well. Please direct any questions that need my help to there; unless they contain personal information that cannot be made public.

Hi!!!
This is macjam1490 and I am a first-timer on this website. After browsing through all the forums, I am really thankful that this site exists as it was indeed very helpful and informative.
I do have a question though... where is the fastest and easiest state to apply for the NCLEX exam? fastest in terms of processing of application and easiest in terms of requirements such as CGFNS not needed etc.
Another question, since I am considering applying in Illinois (which i assume is better than Vermont), I just want to know if this will issue your license even if you do not have any SSN?
Please advise as I am really confused and troubled with this.
Again , many thanks, keep up the good work, hope to hear from you soon and you'll definitely hear from me again.!!!

https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/quickest-way-getting-things-done-licensed-us-98305.html
it's in the international forum (2nd page).
there's also a sticky in the international forum where you can ask questions for suzanne.
i suggest that you go over first the discussion in the thread to gather more info.
for il ssn, you can try to send an email to idpr. you will receive a reply within a couple of days. check their website to contact them.
see you around.

you can tell them that you plan to apply for il licensure exam for registered professional nurses; that you attended a nursing program outside the us (internationally educated nurse); that you are not a permanent resident nor a citizen in the us at this time; that you do not have a us social security number. and you want to know (1) if you will be allowed to apply for licensure exam without a us ssn, (2) if you will be given a license after passing the exam even if you do not have a us ssn, and (3) when will you be required to submit a ssn to idfpr.
you will receive a reply probably within 5 or 7 working days (sometimes the following day).
please don't forget to post here any info you might get from il.
(perhaps, all these can be moved to the international forum or to a similar thread in the philippine nurses forum by the administrator/moderator. thanks) :nuke:
ok.. thanks.
will do that in a day or 2 and i will keep you all posted about the reply i got...
any more info about this topic, pls keep me updated too...

social security numbers are not issued until you actually arrive in the us, and are ready to begin to work. (ssn#) they are never issued overseas.

I answered your pm.
Illinois is definitely not the fastest, far from it.
