Ive made a few posts throughout the forums. I guess I am just nervous and anxious to talk to others. lol
Anyway, I have a BA in English but decided to switch gears and go for nursing now. I am 35, married with children and finished my first degree while working and my kids were real little, so I am no stranger to how hard school is to manage with everything else.
I am sort of late in the game to apply for nursing school, but I made some back up plans, what do you think?
Plan A was to apply right to Nursing school (Bsn) which I know I wont get into because I didnt realize about the Pre-reqs. BUT, the apps are out already, so nothing I can do.
So since I know I wont get in, I made other plans..
Plan B is the LPN program at my local Voc-Tech school. I have a decent chance of getting in. I have some great letters of reference, and I am only 2 weeks late of the "priority" deadline. So we will see.
Plan C is the Occupational Therapy Assiatant program at the CC here. I applied in time and have met all the pre-reqs. I figure if I get in and nothing else, I may actually like it and just do that instead of nursing, or I can take it and also take the pre-reqs for the ASN program (since all my prior electives transfer and I have space I need to fill) and then when its time to apply for the ASN program, do that.
Plan D is if I dont get in anyway, I will take the CNA course at the CC..get a job as a CNA while also taking my pre-reqs..and then try again next year.
Plan E is to sit in my house and cry.
Any thoughts?

Those are some pretty good plans. I don't think you will need Plan E though lol. If you already have a BA then you could apply to a Nursing School with the Second Career program. They have accelerated programs and will waive the pre-reqs.

plan ABSN!! since you have your first degree might as well grab the opportunity for an accelerated program.
Thanks, the 2 schools I applied to which had a second degree accelerated program both had Anatomy and Phsyiology I and a College level Chem pre requisite. Since I was an English major, I never had a reason to take those before
Its something to think about for next year though. I just hate waiting. I want to KNOW so I can move on with life and get ready for what I have to do! lol
Oh okay...in that case Plans B or D are pretty good. You could do a LPN to RN bridge program. I'm currently doing Plan D myself : ) I just finished my CNA class looking for a job and waiting to her back from my nursing program.
