Hi all,
this is my first post here. I work at Duke Medical Center and i am preparing to change jobs. I wanna work as a travel nurse now. I am being offered a MICU job @ Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
I'd appreciate any opinions from those of you who have worked there, especially in the MICU. How do they treat their travelers? How busy is the unit, rn to pt ratio?

I haven't been there since they've rearranged (since opening the new heart center, some units moved around/expanded).
I believe it is 1 nurse:2 patients. Pitt is good to their travelers (for the most part), since they use so many.

In general, PCMH treats their travelers well; often times extending contracts if asked and being pretty flexible. Some of my fave nurses here have been travelers! As for the MICU, one of my good friends works there & likes it. 1:2 ratio and a pretty hoppin place. My friend works nights and prefers the pace compared to days.
Yeah, the MICU is a busy place. Pitt co. and surrounding area has a LOT of medical problems- a whole lot more than I've noticed in the western part of the state. They've got the killer three down: DM, HTN, ESRD with hemodialysis.
Don't forget stroke!!! When I moved here, I was told it was the "stroke belt." I also find that there's a pretty decent % of pts without a HS education, compared to the area that I'm from.
