Pinnig ceremony speech

Published

I'm president of my class and was told by the director of the program if I chose to I could give a speech or could let another official do it if I chose not to. any ideas of what to say? I have never talked in front of that many people(expecting 250 people). For me it has been an extremely long journey. I failed my first attempt at the ADN program and started LPN the following year(2011) for me this is an honor and something I would love to do especially with my 4 year old in the audience. Any ideas of what to say and how to get over anxiety!!

What about a personalized approach "all I need to know I learned in nursing school" giving a kudos to the original "all I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten" (By Robert Fulghum. http://robertfulghum.com/index.php/fulghumweb/books

Like "wash your hands" perhaps some sayings from classmates and instructors. You can use this as a starting point to brainstorm your own speech. Congratulations on your honor and your graduation.

I just got my AA in general studies and the cc graduation had this amazing speaker who was an ADN grad. He was so awe inspiring. He didn't do it right his first time around, but this time, he was beyond active in the college but not without struggles and hard work along the way.

What was important about his speech was that it was about the journey. So many people get wrapped up in the goals and forget that it's the journey that gets us there, it's the journey that teaches us how to handle what's next, it's the journey that evolves us into better, more balanced people. If I were to write a speech at a pinning or a graduation, I'd focus on that. If you do life right, one journey will always lead to another one, and in order to find true happiness and success in life, you will relish in the roads that each journey takes you down and you will never stop learning and growing, even if you are graduating. Graduation doesn't just mean you've reached your goal. It means you've reached the beginning of your next journey.

As for the nerves..... Dude, I'm terrified of even small groups.
