I recently got offered a job on a pediatric step down unit.
A little background on me, I started on an adult oncology unit (NICU was my dream but jobs were scare so I took what was available), I stayed on hematology/oncology for 3 years. I loved oncology, but our floor was turning more med surg and so after a lot of reflection I decided it was time for a change. I took a job on postpartum/Peds unit and I've been doing that for about 6 months. Im not a huge fan of postpartum, Im now 100% sure that this area is not where I want to be. We rarely get Peds, because most of the pediatric patients go to the children's hospital.
I really want to find my place in the nursing world, but I don't want to make this switch and hate it too. I love kids and Peds was my favorite rotation in nursing school.
Any input would be very appreciated!
