i am relocating from charleston, south carolina to dallas, texas area and have two phone interviews set up this week. i have been an rn for about 2.5yrs and a lpn for a year prior to that. i have soo many questions. i do not know what to expect on these phone interviews. also dont know what to expect in regards to what is a reasonable wage amount. i dont want to sell myself short because i just want a position before i move.
also, what are good areas to live in where there is also a good school system. my bil said the north irving has good schools, but they are also pricey. so i figured i would reach out on here to see if i can get some questions answered.
thanks

North Hills Hospital is located in North Richland Hills, which is serviced partly by the Birdville Independent School District and partially by the Keller Independent School DIstrict. These school districts are good and you can rent an apartment cheaply in North Richland Hills or buy a decent house for less than $125,000.
Do you realize that both hospitals are HCA-owned? Therefore, the pay is going to be a little lower than other hospitals in the area. A nurse with 2.5 years of RN experience and 1 year of LPN experience would probably get offered in the high $20s per hour by this particular hospital system.
In addition, think about one important point. . .
Why are they recruiting nurses from out of the area when masses of nurses live in the Dallas area? This is some food for thought.

I currently work at an HCA facility, so I am trying to retain my time, benefits, ect. I know there are always downfalls when relocating and starting at a new facility. I work in L&D and these positions are usually hard to find where I live, which is why I was shocked to see there were so many positions posted. I really just want to get a job offer to find a place to stay. I can always search for something else if I don't like it there. But I thought it would be a good start to transfer within the company to get myself established and if I dont like the hospital or anything about the position, I could start looking then. I usually expect the best, but prepare myself for the worst. That way I am ready for whatever is thrown at me.
Thanks a lot for your response,
Shawn

Thank God for you!! I'm really really happy for you. You go get those jobs. Now you have the choice to choose who you want to work with, I can't wait to get there myself.
I don't live in Dallas, I live in Houston, so I do not know anything about that area, but post that question on all Texas threads, or even a different forum, and I'm sure there will be someone who can help you.
Congratulations!!!:cheers::ancong!:

Stay in the NRH area .. Keller has a great ISD as does the Grapevine,Colleyville ISD .. but what do i know I Love Fort Worth
Also if you select NRH , Traffic anytime going W to E on 183/loop 820 is a pain from I35-to your Exit to the hospital can take up to 45 min .. my vote is HWY 26 nort up to Colleyville
If you will be moving to the area here is a handy online tool to help in your shelter search

I have been looking online and was told that Irving was a pretty good area too. I guess DFW would be a closer spot since I would be working in North Richland Hills. I wont be in the area until a wk prior to my start date. So i have been doing the scary thing of applying for apts online. Just dont want to be in a bad area and be stuck for a year.
